So the spacer seems to be spot on. Likely could have made it a couple mm more narrow. But the guys said the ”think” it should work even with the current tire on there but were not making any promises as to if it would interfer when / if bottoms out. It may hit the ledge of the tire. But 2 guys riding the trunk did not make the tire come close but i could see it would be a close call if the wheel arch can idd come lower than the tire line.
Thats the good part the bad part is im leaning towards liking the original wheels more ;) it just look bit posh with these new wheels and i really like the not in your face look about this car which kinda evaporates with the new wheels
But ok at least now i know i can make both work ;)

Haha no i have no idea what u r talking about .)
Right now my wheels are in poor shape and with bad rubber and ive been fine with that for a few years, mostly cause knowing i had these futura in the basement but now that i started the process im the usual me obsessing over every detail known and unknown.
Will do, even if it wont be perfect im sure ill be happy in the end. Pics after summer (i hope).

Could possibly work visually with the boxy ghibli character or could be a complete missmatch, guess you wont know till you see it .)
Regardless the bcd and centerbore are all wrong for my car like most other wheels unfortunately.
Its not easy to find 106x5 with center bore of 58.5 cause one car in the world had it and only for 1 year it seems as well. Italians do it better..

Jeez. Wtf i assume this is one of those ads that is similar to the campy shamal wheels asking for 3000 euros or similar (in bicycle terms)
But if these wheels are worth even half of what he is asking ill sell them in a heartbeat. It would certainly make my wheel choice dilemma a lot easier. My set has a few hundred miles or so.
This just gives me the scares as its next to impossible to find parts for these cars now a days and it going to get really expensive to keep owning this car if unlucky and the failing parts is of the "wrong" kind.

I enjoy watching max. He is aggressive no doubt but to say he is any worse than any other f1 driver racing for the championship, i dunno.
Theres so many ways to spin any situation in f1 so theres really little point. Lewis was also very tough when he had to be. But often he did not as his car and skill package did not require him to be for many seasons. I often feel like one would require "var" to see who actually got the racing line or which wheel is where at what point etc. Cant be easy to do at those speeds for the drivers.
I think max beeing on top and mercedes is lagging is a good thing for F1 tho and tbh i like Lewis more now than i did 2 seasons ago. I think he has shown tremendous patience despite beeing in the situation he is in. Champion stuff no doubt imo.
Found myself hoping he would win (which i havent for quite a few seasons, guess im a fan of underdogs) and i think he would have if not for that safety car. Just felt like he had the advantage before that inching away at that small lead the Ferraris had at that point. Emediate reaction was ofc that it would be to Lewis advantage when safety car sign appeared but turned out on fresh softs they were all equally quick so his speed on the previous set was a bigger advantage and a clean race from that point would have been more beneficial for him in hindsight i think.

i was however born with a curse (or blessing) that you either get it perfect or you dont do nothing at all.The rims can likely be sold for good cash if i decide to go with the original wheels. They will however then be renovated and fitted with new tires (that cost a lot as the options for high performance 16" tires in 215 / 225 are not available more or less). So i suspect its close to a zero sum game.

But then the crucial measurement should be the "fatter inner bit" right? Bit weird since that measurement was listed in a parentheses? So are all hubs made like this with a wider ridge with a degree of slope with a corresponding slope on the rim? (havent really been paying attention when changing wheels on cars b4).

So im just about ready to order a spacer to test and then a 2nd if its turns out ok or 2 new if i need to do some adjustments.
Also managed to dig up an old email from maserati with info on my original wheels.
I noted they listed the center bore at 58.6mm but also a "countersink" with 59.5mm
What is a countersink in this application i wonder? Had to look around and i was "smart" enough to take some photos of the hub when at the tire shop. And as seen in the close up below it look like maybe not all of the hub is 58.6 but the part closest to the car looks like it could be a little wider ridge? What is the purpose of doing something like this? Hard for me to see a point other than to make sure its really difficult to fit any other wheels and make things a pain in the ass :) or is there an engineering advantage somehow? But since im putting a spacer over this anyway it may not need to be brought any attention?
Also measured the center bore on the new wheels and i get a range of readings between 57.98 to 58.10 or there abouts. So they are about .5 mm more narrow than the original wheels. They also seem to have that slightly angled edge to maybe fit the "countersink" or maybe all wheels have this as its easier to fit the wheels on the hub this way.
The combo just seems so close to the original so its hard to see why the would make a change this small.. why not just keep the same specs as the earlier wheels i imagine it would be much cheaper for them which makes me think they could be 58.6 but with some paint? But also they appear to be bare aluminium when i take i look and the shop dident think it was paint either, well one of them thought maybe the other said no! :)

Ah yes those are the ones. My vocabulary is pretty good but tools is still uncharted territory for me.
Yes i was thinking about 255s possibly. Will see what choices i have once the other bits are sorted. I had forgotten about that effect of different shapes on different rims but your link and the resulting image reminded me that the tires was indeed less wide on the outer edge on the wider rim which should work in my favor. The tires currently fitted on the new rims are very square and looks massive as a result (semi slicks)
Cheers
Lovely!!
