Shovelled 5 cubic metres of compost today, gonna be achey in the morning.
The only storm damage was a fallen over compost heap, despite red warnings being sent to our phones in a rather over the top way.
But that completes my list of jobs to do before Christmas so am feeling good. Seed catalogues and planning what to grow next...

I've not seen any detailed proposals or draft legislation

The Dabizas quote on it is nice too
First of all, I am very proud to be part of it. It was the act of a football genius. I was not humiliated, I was part of something which relied on a great football mind.
I am recognised all over the world for that goal. Sadly, I’m not the main actor, I’m the supporting cast.
But this kind of action makes football so special. Why should I feel embarrassed? I held my hands up. Other than clatter him, I could not do anything more.

I think only two, the one where he hit top bins from outside the box after a short corner, and the one that was a lot like the famous Holland vArgentina goal. The other goal in the hattrick took a big deflection off the keeper
The other in the top 3 was a solo effort running from the half way line against Southampton
The impossible turn past Nikos Dabizas will always be my favourite though. Soft spot also for the lob against Leverkusen and the assist for Ljungberg against Juve, having seen those live, both were moments where the whole crowd couldn't believe what it was seeing

On the plus side, at least your surveyor spotted it before you bought it. You wouldn't have wanted to be settling in to your proud first home that you've borrowed a lifetime's worth of money to buy, when the roof and walls collapse.
There are other houses, there are always other houses, and it's worth waiting.
Imo prices are always as high as buyers can possibly afford. Stamp duty rising wont mean the overall cost goes up, sellers will have to reduce asking prices accordingly. When they cut stamp duty, it didn't lead to buyers saving money (apart from edge cases maybe), it just further inflated asking prices.

These braided pachira aquatica are very susceptible to root rot, because they have big fleshy bases and it's three or four plants grown right next to each other and twisted around.
Remove from pot and wash all the soil off. If any of the roots are rotting, then you need to remove that plant, it can't be fixed. If you are only removing one of them, you might be able to carefully cut it out and the braided effect might not look too weird after.
Replace compost with a very free draining mix. They store water in their big fleshy bases anyway so don't need a very moist soil.
On mine I got rid of all but one plant, cut it quite low and let it grow back in a normal non braided shape. But if you want to keep it braided you definitely need to never, ever over water.
This is a (rare) example of one sold non-braided, if you do need to remove some bits, debraid and prune, you could end up with one or more like this:

Thanks all on light chat.
I'm not sure if it's regs or not but the electrician says they insist on conduit for outside wiring, so @TTM 's neat solution wouldn't work. But the light looks like it could accept conduit from below, what model/make please?
Battery lights suggested do seem like a much simpler option, albeit perhaps not the most aesthetic
Will ask the sparky about willingness to drill a hole in a light intended for rear cable entry, good tip

I want a motion sensor outdoor light to go by the front door, to help with finding the keyhole in the dark and provide a little more security / reassurance for my wife.
We have previously had solar ones which aren't great, and have broken. There appear to be a handful of rechargable options available but they also look poor quality.
I had an electrician coming round so asked them to take a look.
There's no existing wiring in particularly useful places, so the best way to do it without a tonne of redecorating inside is apparently to run the cable outside from my lounge, and then a long and up a stretch of external wall. This has to be protected, so that would be in galvanized conduit. I think I'd be ok with the sort of industrial look.
But then he said that means I need a light that's built to accept conduit from below (20mm opening), rather than rear entry with the cable going straight through the wall. Only problem is there don't seem to be any of the former available. Any ideas?

There are loads of different versions of G One Allround: different compounds, puncture protection, folding/rigid, tubeless/non tubeless, different model years, very confusingly listed. As well as obvs sizes and sidewall colour.
I really rate the 27.5 x 2.25 which I got from Merlin here for £20. Listed as performance, raceguard, dual compound, same as your first link. Microskin is meant to be more premium but in what respect I dont know.
Not used them tubeless yet but they have TLE written on them

Any acer recos welcome.
They are slow growers so buy the size and shape you want, dont aim to wait for it to grow.
So, definitely go and see and buy in person.
These guys have a lot of choice
https://www.paramountplants.co.uk/japanese-acers.htmlAs well as not getting a coloured one for full sun, don't get a dissected leaf variety. Although those are imo the nicest, they will shrivel up in full sun

Hopefully he doesn't as these are rightly now illegal
