Phil put this together for us, just a little idea I had and he did the rest. Just need to add an extra S to Teesside and I asked him if he could put a small Transporter where the FGT is on the chain link, as Ryan thought it would be good to have a local touch.
I like the retro feel of yours - it's like an old badge.
What do we all think? - I'd like everyone to have a say!

I'm not gonna go on like I'm the fixed guru, as I'm still quite new to it and learning all the time. There's a ton of really good people on here who will give you plenty of help and advice with everything to do with fixed, just ask about or search for stuff - I'm sure someone has asked similar questions at some point! www.sheldonbrown.com is a treasure trove of fixed gear related stuff.
I bought a old road frame that was already stripped down to the bare metal to make it easier for me to get sprayed up. I don't have any wheels that I could convert, so I opted for buying a new set with a flip flop hub - I don't really intend using the other side, but it is good to know that it's there if I need it. Pretty much everything else has been bought new and are not the most expensive of parts, but it will allow me to get riding and progress over time.

Good to hear from another person interested in fixed in the local area. The more the better!
I live just near allens west, so not too far away. I'm currently not riding as having my bike sprayed up, but will be up and running next week. Can't wait to get out on the new ride.
We're trying to organise a regular meet and try to get more going in the area. If you know anyone else with a fixed or thinking about it, get them on the forum!
Hope you get going with your bike soon

Yeah, it's a shame, but suppose it is their choice.
lol, yeah, I've always serviced my own bikes, even easier with a fixed.
Cool, I'll see what we can do and what will work. I've got a laminator, so as soon as we get something I'll make some spoke cards and give you some. I might get some stickers done too.

lol, god yes, I wouldn't ask them. I know they'd probably put one up, as I've used them for years, but I'm not sure anyone goes there anymore really, which is a shame as I like supporting the LBS.
I've got a few shops and independent shops in boro to put up a poster. I reckon the Middlesbrough bike hub would put one up for us?
I've never thought of that! Good idea, that's a really good idea. The initial idea I and was 3 chain links making a triangle and F G T at each point for Fixed Gear Teesside. But maybe we could have the F G T as the pillars of the bridge or just in the bridge?
Phil has kindly said he will help us out and give it a go, so we could suggest that?

Actually, ignore that last post, we'll organise rides here.
It's just we were talking about them on the other thread, but that can just be a general thread and this one for rides.
I think we need to first establish where is a good place to meet up? We could either have a set place or meet at middlesbrough one week and then somewhere in stockton the next?
Getting of the train t'other day in middlesbrough, I walked across that new bit they have done just outside the station? It's pretty large flat area, clean (if that is possible?) and relatively quiet. Was thinking maybe there, as it is close by the station for anyone coming via train and you can head to anywhere in the town from there.
Thoughts?

Josh,

Use this part of the forum and we can organise rides/meets for teesside area there.
Thanks

Already onto it, he PM'd to see if he could help out.
Can't thank you all enough, really helpful.
Like RyanB put some posters up at college, I'm gonna see if some of the LBS's wouldn't mind putting one up for me - there might be fixed riders in the area that just haven't thought about finding other people to ride with.
Like you were saying earlier, it might encourage some of the shops to stock parts and bikes if they realise that there's fixed gears in the area. Could even request they do, they'd be the only ones doing it I suppose.

Also, if you know any guys that wouldn't mind designing a logo for the Teesside blog/spoke cards/stickers, then send them my way please. Quite like to get something done and help spread the word. It's always worked in the past with things I've done, gives you a bit of an identity and something for people to recognise. Thanks

Got the poster up on http://fixedgearteesside.blogspot.com which is still in early stages like the scene around here and our little bit of fixed heaven on here!
My bike is still in the building stages, waiting for a guy to get back off holiday and spray it for me. Opted for Espresso wheels and crankset, basic alloy stem, izumi chain. charge bars & brev.m pedals. Gonna order some straps from Restrap and can't decide on tyres.
Not the most expensive of parts, but I want to start out steady and build it up over time with better kit.

Yeah, once we get out too, people might see us and get more involved.
haha, it does have it's advantages. I'm waiting on my new wheelset arriving and they got caught up in the bad weather and stuck at sea on the ship - hopefully arrive soon.
Tail winds are great, until you have to ride home and head on into them, makes it fun!
