Does anyone have an A head stem to sell? 25.4mm clamp size, no degree rise if poss and fairly long around 100mm?
I've got a couple of stems going here: http://www.lfgss.com/thread80589.html#post2724384
Cheapo one has a rise, not sure how much though. BLB one has a 6 degree rise/drop, which ain't too severe...

I think it's achievable with a magic gear and half link chain, depending on how hard/ often you ride you might need to change the chain every 6 months or so due to stretch.
More here : http://www.lfgss.com/thread730.html
Was having a little chat with Andy at lunch about whether this might be possible - do you have any measurements/photos you could share in terms of spacing etc.?
Pics would be nice as well, just to get a feel for the thing... :)

For sale a Gazelle Vuelta frame and forks 56/54. Perfect beater f+f, quite a few cosmetic chips and marks but nothing structurally wrong with it apart from the head-tube has ovalised. I unknowingly purchased it like this but I've had no bother riding it since. Some super strength glue should sort this out. I will include seat-post, UN54 bb and Campag Veloce headset with it. £35
Initially purchased from here:
http://www.lfgss.com/thread46985.htmlAlso have Kinesis Racelight RC2 Frame. 56/57cm TT ( I think) Red in colour with carbon seat stays. Great frame and very light but sadly to big for me. Included is 10 spd shimano chain. £50
How easy would the Racelight be to set up fixed? I've not built a bike with vertical dropouts before and don't want to get stuck with a frame I can't do owt with... :)

Provisional dibs on the mudguards/fenders until pictures and if you post.
Think they might be SKS (possibly Blumels), based on a quick Google search. Good knick too. Will grab a picture tonight to be sure.
Would be happy to post. Guess they're pretty light, even packaged so probably c.£5 - will see whether I can work it out online and let you know.

Well, obviously...
You know what I mean. It takes a while to learn that the toolkit you already had isn't shit and that you already had the obscure tool for the thing that someone abbreviated the name of the brand that built the thing that you didn't know what it was called anyway does to the other thing that's attached to the bit that OH WHO GIVES A FUCK I FIXED IT ON MY OWN...
Really like that picture as a piece of design though; wonder if I can get a posted somewhere to throw up in me bike shed...

I've got to pay one and send in my licence to get points, but will be out of the country and need my licence in case the bike breaks down in the middle of nowhere and I need to hire a car. I get back on the day after I have to get my licence to them.
Does anyone know if they're likely to give any wiggle room on this, or where I could phone? The police don't have any phone numbers other than 999 - it's one of the ways they keep crime figures manageable, I suppose.
Why not pay it, but neglect to send in your licence and then claim you forgot that part? They'll then send you a letter asking for your licence as well, which you'll not receive until you get back. You then call them the day you're back and say 'OMG OHNOES I DIDN'T SEE THAT PART, SOOOO SORRY, I'VE BEEN ABROAD UNTIL TODAY SO I DIDN'T GET YOUR LETTER UNTIL NOW...', then send it off that day. They can't penalise you further for paying your fine on time ;). The paper trail can be your get-out clause 'obviously I wasn't trying to do anything untoward by missing the deadline - I paid the fine after all! etc etc.'...

Just spotted this story: http://www.fastcoexist.com/1678935/spinlister-peer-to-peer-bike-sharing-gets-rolling about a new service, currently rolling out in the US, which allows people to rent their bikes out on a peer-to-peer basis, including protection from theft and damage, similar to buyer-protection via Paypal.
An interesting concept, certainly, and with variable price-points, you can justify renting out a beater or your favourite bike. I, for one, would be happy to lend bikes out, given the protection. Price a decent ride at £20 a day in Cambridge and you could get all sorts of hipster tourists paying your bills, surely? You could probably even build something up (as if we need another excuse) just for rentals - you could be making a profit pretty quickly, especially in Cambridge where the bike is a way of life...
What do you guys reckon? Would you lend your pride and joy out to a stranger?
