Behold! My first polo bike, now complete… ish. It's a Kona Humu single-speed cruiser (aka The Towel Rack), 32t chainring, pre-loved bars courtesy TS @ #sckbrn, long-pull dual lever from Taiwan, BMX pedals from the parts bin, gimp-chic wrap on crossbar. Blood and tears: model's own.

Is that the promax lever ppl are using and will it work with normal V-Brakes?
Just got one in the post... backchannel on eBay via Taiwan. Same, but with no parking brake. Looks quite nice.
The cut-down crosspiece bars on my Kona are no good... not enough mounting room. Anybody have some riser bars, 25.4" pref, 50cm+ if poss, inch or two rise? Pretty please?

^Don't think it's the same as yours, ExTra... it seems to have the rubber grip on the lever, which Jono says marks the long-pull V-brake version. Also it lacks the triangular auto-balancing inner pivot thingummajig which apparently makes it hard to set up for polo, so that's good. Guess you could disconnect/remove the parking brake button. Cheaper than the one I just ordered, too... mumbles, kicks rock

22mm bars here, I'll give it a shot. #reallyweshouldbeonpolobikesthread

I think a few people have 175's and it's ok if you're freewheel. For a beginner bike they'll probably be fine Rick.
Joni - yep, 175's might be OK but don't actually need new cranks... just making a suggestion for Bells' problem #alsosneakilygainingknowledge
Your 32t chainring is on and working well. Woohoo. (Might be able to slam the wheel a bit more with a half-link.)
Main issue now is getting a whole 26" front... I used the wheel off my Rockhopper on Tuesday but that bike's kinda sentimental and I'd rather not mash it if possible...

Get some 4-arm MTB cranks off ebay and Charlie the Bikemonger will sell you a 33t ring. Odd numbers are pretty hard to find in my experience.
http://www.charliethebikemonger.com/surly-104bcd-chainring-98-p.asp
If Charliebikemonger's Surly chainring alone is £32, would this entire 32t/33t crankset at £35 + £6 p/p be a contender?

Gah. The Towel Rack™ build is stymied. Was going to get my dinged-up front rim trued today, but discovered the hub is totally fecked.
Anyone have a 26" front?
Also: my crank remover has vanished... one step forwards, two steps back... #hatelosingtools

Question question... is this particular dual lever (www.bikecare.co.uk) (*edit: cheaper at http://www.missioncycles.co.uk ) a long-pull suitable for v-brakes?
*For posterity edit: have been told that this lever pivots internally for an 'even' braking experience eg. on trikes etc... and the quality is gak... hence avoid.

I think Ritchie Blackmore was one of the first to scallop his fingerboard. #autofail

^ TS getthehellouttahere ya toerag. Great to see you as well.
Glad you like 'em skydancer, I've been lucky to nab some bits and bobs but there's a big coolness drop-off after a few...
Anyway, here's a lap steel. This one is badged as a Kay, but it was made by National/Valco in Chicago around 1960. It's got the infamous string-through pickup that Ry Cooder cannibalised to put in his Strat. Pretty hairy... good for blooze. Fingerboard markers are more of a hindrance than anything... but who cares? Generally tuned A6, but I futz around on others.

Sheesh. Just discovered this thread and spent about 45 minutes reading most of it. Feel like I know you guys already (sob).
For starters: my latest and most beloved. I've wanted a Gibson slope-shoulder for years. Played loads, couldn't afford most of 'em at the time, walked away from a couple I shouldn't have. Finally: this. 1958 Epiphone Texan. Pretty much a Gibson J-50, but being a first-year Texan it has a 'real' (ie. pre-Gibson) Epi neck, vee-shaped, slightly longer scale (this thread does have 'nerd' in the title... right?) It's woody and thumpy and bright all at the same time. Chuffed to bits. Playing it every day. Mo' later...
^26". And yes, a whopping BB hole. I think some Onzas might work.
