probably not the correct thread for this really, but here are the stats.
from the following doc - https://www.leicestershire.gov.uk/sites/default/files/2024-08/local-transport-plan-for-leicestershire-core-document-2026-2040.pdf -
fully agree, the bus is the same despite the £2 cap on fares.
local bus transport needs to be free and train fares need to be heavily subsidised across the board to incentivise people out of their cars.i went to a council meeting forum thing (leicestershire county council) on transport infrastructure / modal shift / yadayada last night.
the thinking seems so disjointed. yes they can build a new junction with priority for cycling / walking / wheeling, but that's not going to encourage people to stop driving everywhere.
people are lazy.
the projected statistics on obesity and other health issues linked to inactivity are quite shocking. -

happy to take guards off for summer 'gravel'
no, you need a summer and a winter gravel bike.
disclaimer - i might have just bought a 'dedicated gravel bike' so i can put guards back on my gravel capable 'commuter bike'...for days when i don't want to ride my gravel capable singlespeed bike.
oh dear, i think i have a problem.

me and some pals rode up to youlgrave YHA in the peaks from loughborough and back at the weekend.
approximately 200k of about 50/50 road / 'uk gravel' mix.
it was a good test for the redshift stem and post on a loaded up bike - they certainly make for a very plush experience. my hands, forearms, and booty were all fine when we got back.
appols for NDS pic.
FYI - the climb out of Youlgrave up to Parsley Hay in the morning is brutal
