Hive mind absolutely on point today - thanks! Bike comes with an integrated Abus frame lock, but the compatible extension chain isn't SS Gold :(
I was assuming a chain style was needed. Any thought as to length? @stevo_com's suggestion is 100cm, which I'd have guessed would be a bit short. Can you get it around a rack/lamppost/etc even with the box getting in the way?

Hi thanks! Yeah the silver nut that clamps the trailer hitch indeed unscrewed. Previously I've been able to undo the axle using the hitch as a handle. I'm going to just cross my fingers until the new kid carrier turns up before trying anything potentially destructive. We are probably gonna sell it anyway and the buyer is unlikley to need the same axle as me...

So my rear thru axel is stuck too :(
It does loosen off just over a full rotation but then is very stuck. It's a special one from Burley for towing a kid trailer so doesn't have a handle or allen key socket on the left, only an allen key socket on the drive side. I gave it a bit of force and have rounded the socket FFS- it seems to be made of soft alu :(
Since it moves a fair bit rather than being totally seized, I'm confused as to the problem. Maybe the threads that protruded on the drive side have been damaged?
So what are my options? I trying to remove the wheel for a bike clean as was super dusty, so no urgent need to remove. Ideally a non-destructive option, as they don't seem to make this particular length axle anymore. (Although when our cargo bike arrives in 2 months I will care less about this as we may sell the trailer and I can go back to the axle that came with the bike)
I can take it to the LBS at some point but it's tricky time wise

We tried Riese & Müller Load in both sizes last week at Kinetics in Glasgow. All the fam were impressed - MUCH nicer than Raleigh Stride and Urban Arrow. Kids liked the suspension for no bumps and motor got us up an strava 11% segment with medium effort https://www.strava.com/segments/1542456. Does not handle like a milk float. Spendy tho.
Edinburgh bicycle coop had an ex-display load 60 a while back
