Here's a story: That night that we didn't play polo two weeks ago, Stan and I didn't get the message in time and went to Peckham. He told me that when he left, I should take his wheel cover, because he wasn't going to bring it back to Poland. I said I didn't want to, because I'm not very good and I didn't want to have fancy looking gear (actually, I said, "I don't want to look like a poseur"). He laughed about it and we played around for an hour, then went home.

Yesterday I went to the free shop where I volunteer as a mechanic and saw the wheel covers with a note that said "For Tom." Thanks Polish guys, you're awesome.

Yup, that's me.

Exactly what I bought, came in the mail today. I haven't installed it yet, but looks fine. Do note that it's made for road brake cables, not MTB-- just means you'll have to swap your cables (not housings) if you ride a mountain setup.

Also notice that it's just the two little parts. You supply lever, throughbolt, barrel adjusters, etc.

This loop gets stuck on stuff all the time when I'm walking around. It will be less comical if it ever gets stuck on somebody's side view mirror, though. Thoughts?

ps if anyone has a cassette lockring tool and a wrench they could toss in their bag, I'm having a little chainline issue and I'd like to rearrange my spacers.

I have a 90's 4130 MTB that I use to tour. Personally, I think if you can outfit some old Rockhopper with racks and panniers and save a few hundred bucks, you've got that much bigger budget for the road, and that much less to worry about when you lock up. Plus they're bomb-proof.
