Yeah i did think about keeping it UK based just something about pedaling to a whole different country that's appealing to me. Far less chance for me to sack it half way too if i know ive got to wait til the next day to get a ferry back too!
And pretty much as soon as my arse stopped hurting after doing it last year i wanted to go back on a road bike and give it a go.
Was trying to plan it with 2 mates but one is a nightmare for tying down to dates and im not sure the other would fancy the idea of there and back (he told me MANY MANY times when cycling back from St Pancras "never again")
Considering just booking a ferry on the bank holiday weekend and going for it solo

So I'm pretty sure it's the D1 I want. Is it ridiculous not to buy the R1 considering this bike will only be used on the road for 20 mile commutes and also the odd century at the weekend and some touring? I do plan on sticking some 32c slick tyres on there but not changing anything else. It's literally come down to liking the look (colour) of the D1 more.

erm, im not sure specifically but ive had the back wheel on and off so many times this last week i would have thought id have noticed if they were loose? maybe not though as i have noticed the chain being more slack when getting to work vs when i left?
i nearly tried throwing it in the river earlier when i got a puncture and had to walk 4 miles home.
so road bike out of action, track bike best not spoken about. lets see if my converted £10 ebay dad bike is any more reliable. first ride on it a 10 miles commute, whats the worst that could happen

I'm not ashamed to admit i was close to tears on Saturday after taking the bike apart for the third time and the noise is still there. Every moving part is clean and smooth until they are asked to cooperate with each other.
I feel like the new stepmum who no matter how hard she tries just cant get the child to behave! -
Ive had a rattle/crunch for the last week which despite completely taking apart, cleaning, lubing everything, and replacing the bottom bracket is still as prominent as ever, the only thing left is the rounded off chainring bolt and if its not that then i am going to have to accept the bike is haunted and set it on fire!

Love it when you do a bit of fettling over the weekend to realise on your Monday morning commute that you havent tightened something up properly. Today's winner...lockring. Always a nice surprise when slowing at a roundabout and you feel that slip backwards, and then the joy of waiting for that heart in mouth moment when pulling away from lights and tightening everything back up

Everything added to the Evans basket just waiting for the stupid C2W certificate to come through to push the button. Managed (with price match and trade in deals) to save myself over £100 which is nice too.
