Yeah my commute was back to being a 10 mile traffic jam!
Finally on my new bike and the weather was delightful though so I still enjoyed it
Also, bus drivers who try to make the front corner of their bus 3 inches away from the opposite rear corner of a bus in a different lane (good old London Bridge bus lane) thus blocking a whole lane for no reason other than to stop bikes/motorbikes filtering can fuck off

This is torture waiting for my bike to be built in store. Called yesterday to be told bike was on its way in (even though online stock check shows they already had one?) and it will be built up today between 5 and 7.
I had hoped this mornings commute on the 2 ton mountain bike would be the last one. Got a feeling there is 2 more to come!

Given what happened I am going to head to Notre Dame rather than Versailles now. No other reason than I'm nosey. Hopefully the extra traffic doesnt put too much of a dent in the average speed to get back in time. Going to stop on the way back out of Paris rather than the way in this time so ill know how many pizza's i have time to eat!

Has anyone seen the guy with the bike looking like it was converted to have a petrol engine on it. Seen him a few times on Jamaica road. I was so intrigued this morning it took me 3 tries to finally get clipped in to the joy of the black cab driver behind who was desperate to get off the line using (I assume from the revs) his launch control

On a bit of a whim I have decided to cycle from London to Versailles and then turn around and come back again.
Did the London to Paris part in August last year on a highly inappropriate track bike with a stupid big gear but will have brakes and gears for this one.
I've booked the 11pm ferry from Newhaven on the 2nd and am hoping to be able to get to Versailles (110ish miles) and back for the 1am ferry back on the Saturday morning.
Arse/leg soreness will determine whether its a train from Newhaven on Saturday morning or a (slow) cycle home from there.
At the moment I am doing it solo but if anyone fancies joining me for the whole thing / half of it / even just the ride down to Newhaven then you're more than welcome as long as you can keep up with my blistering speed (that's a joke, I'm very fat and slow)

First may bank holiday it is then.
Thursday late ferry, then ride from Dieppe to Versailles and back in time for the last ferry back Friday.
Got to average 12.5mph with stops that should be doable
Might set up a ride thread on here to see if anyone else fancies this. Or even just the first half then they could break off and get the Eurostar home i suppose

Yeah the last 20 miles into Paris was pretty shit to say the least.
That looks like it could be fun.
Had better check with my wife that dates next month are going to work before booking ferries
.....yeah she has raised a good point....our second child is due a couple of weeks later so probably not the best idea to go off for a long weekend so close to the due date. Might have to be even more gung ho about it and book it for the first May bank holiday weekend

For someone who takes such offence at a cyclist filtering past them while they are completely stationary, I'm not sure there is a situation that is "for them"
