That's a shocker. I'd definitely email to complain - that's totally out of order. Can't imagine Rapha would be happy. For what it's worth, I've found the staff at the Soho branch really helpful. (Had the opposite experience, as it goes - one of them suggested I try a size smaller when I was overcompensating for the beer gut.)

I've got bar end brakes and bullhorns (well... pursuit bars) on my fixed. I much, much prefer them. I find it gives me a really comfortable riding position - I felt too cramped when I had them on the tops.
Plus if I'm going at any speed I'm likely to be on the horns, and that's when I reckon I most need the brakes. As it's fixed, I've got that to fall back on when I'm on the tops.

Wind jacket sizing - I'm OK for a M in the classic jersey and the brevet. But they're about as snug as I'd want to go. I'm only ever a couple of pies away from cutting off my circulation.
Wondering whether I should size up to a L for the wind jacket, as there's times I'll be wanting to wear it over a base layer + winter jersey.
Or is that already factored in?

Last night my daughter was helping me hang up the washing. She picked up my track top, saw the band on the sleeve, and said "Oh. It's Rapha! Is this cycling stuff? I thought Rapha only made cycling clothes?". She's six. I've ruined the poor girl. The only brands she should be into are Disney and Haribo.

How bad do owners think their customer service is? Ordered an SLX 8.0 and they've pushed back dispatch dates twice now, by a fortnight each time. That's annoying, but what's more annoying is the lack of communication. Really want the bike, but don't much fancy more of the same crappy service if there's ever a problem with the bike.

Got the train up to Sheffield and did a bit of a Peak District loop. Seventy miles, and about 3,000 metres of climbing. Jesus Christ. There's a lot of hills up north. Biggest hill I ever get to go up is College Hill. That's alpine for me. To go from that to Holme Moss... Ouch. I am officially a total failure when it comes to hills. Had to get off and push twice. One was on some country lane about 55 miles in. The road ramped up to about 20% and I decided that it wasn't even worth trying.
Amazing views. Wish I could have seen them through the sweat and tears. I'm doing the Etape Cymru in September. It's not looking like a good idea at the moment.

Right. I'm going to delurk. Morning everyone. I'm looking out the window at pissing rain, and still need to service the bike, go buy myself a hacksaw so I can trim the stays of my new mudguards, fit the mudguards, and have a nap.
If any of you see a lost-looking man with a Fratello and an eye-searingly bright waterproof, then I'll pay for directions with banana flapjacks and cheap brandy.
Rode the Tour de Yorkshire this weekend. Perfect workout for my new(ish) wind jacket. Whoever it was on here that said it was the best thing that Rapha makes wasn't far off - very impressed.
