Great ride on a lovely sunny day. Slightly spoilt by two incidents, one with a cock in a pick up trying to beep me out of the way and the most extraordinary incident with another cyclist cutting across my front wheel into and through a roundabout. I've never experienced the like of it before. The kind of thing you expect from an angry white van driver. Oh well, shit happens.
Really felt the benefit of all the climbing I did in Mallorca last week. Was able to go quite a bit harder on some sections, even after climbing for some time. Quite pleasing.
Stopped for veggie samosa, coconut water and chocolate cake in Peaslake with all the mountain bikers. Nom nom nom.

Bloody hot today, above 32c at one stage. Nice roads to bomb along with a couple of lanes and an awesome winding coastal road north of the lovely walled town of Alcudia.
Climbed up to a mirador with a day club pumping shitty euro dance music and then on to an awesome militarily closed road at a tunnel gate. Goats head ensignia denoting the army unit looked very James Bond, especially with the villains lair down in a gorgeous bay just in sight.
Bombed back along the coast road after Alcudia, head down cranking the pedals. Nice work out. Another great late afternoon ride. Topped off with stripping off the Lycra and jumping straight into the plunge pool back at the casa where we're staying. Followed by an ice cold San Miguel. Fuckin heaven!

^^Was hot yesterday that's for sure. For me at least. Think it was 28C or so. I sure felt it climbing out of Port Pollenca. Looks like it'll be hotter today. Not as humid though hopefully. Cheers, looking forward to some big rides in the coming days.
^We had a cooling breeze in the evening so was v pleasant evening. You down in Palma?

Rode up to the Far de Forementor this afternoon. Nice 26 mile round trip from Port Pollenca. Lovely views and roads for first (and last) part then shitty road surface and stunning views.
Even though it wasn't in any way what I'd call windy there were a couple of occasions where I got pushed around by the wind. Hate to think what it is like when it is properly blowing.
Not much traffic, which was great given some of the interesting lines I took in search of smooth road surface. Bloody gorgeous though. Been wanting to ride that for 18 months.

I see at least three other people from this ride made the top 10 in this Strava Segment...

Coffee/ cake wise- https://www.procyclehire.com
Ride wise- there's loads on ridewithGPS, but Puig Major is fun.
The Ride to Sa Calobra is, imo, the hardest part of the ride, because its not a nice run easy get your legs warm before climbing kind of deal. It is a bit better from PP> P I guess, but not easy.
The ride home is excellent.Otherwise- Ive been cooking for myself, so Lidl ;)
Aiming for some fresh fish tmw/ tuesday for the BBQ.
There was a place I walked past in Pollenca just now that had an amazing sounding tasting menu... If I find it again I'll post the name up.Cheers.
Stayed in Soller October 2012 and did one ride on a hired Trek Madone. My first ride on a geared road bike in over a decade. Over Puig Mayor, round and up through Orient and the Coll de Soller. Was a truly fantastic ride and convinced me to buy some gears.

t'was a social ride not a training ride, slow and relaxed ftw. was impressive you caught up an good seeing you though :)
No training involved, I just like riding. Sometimes faster, sometimes slower. Sometimes solo, sometimes in a group.
It was nice to do all the things on this ride. Enjoyed pushing myself earlier for an extended period, then easing off and enjoying the countryside after lunch and finally cruising along and enjoying chatting to everyone else. Was a fun day in the saddle.

All these.
Hoping that these spesh ones do the trick. I get v painful balls of my feet after 50-70 miles depending on thickness of socks. Putting it down to 2 things:
Padding, naturally
Lack of arch support (I have high arches) forcing increased weight on to balls (euph intended)If these don't work, I'll look at other (more expensive) options. I figure it has got to be worth it to reduce the pain (in my balls).
These things worked a treat. Did 80 pain free miles on Saturday. Took a few miles to adjust to and got slightly numb toes for a bit but that cleared up in short order. Excellent purchase.

So I did Sa Calobra.
It was fun and very quiet until after the 360 hairpin where traffic (coaches) stopped me fairly effectively, my lap on the Garmin to there was 34:20, then it took me about 4 mins to finish up... which was annoying, but I caught a couple of riders I'd seen on my descent, which was good for morale.
http://www.strava.com/activities/148015037I'm now fucked, was considering riding to cap de Fermantor, but the wind is up, and the traffic was bat-shit crazy around Pollenca, so first a siesta, and then probably a little spin to Alcudia for dinner.
I'm arriving in Puerto Pollenca on Friday. Have plans for Sa Calobra on Monday to reduce the chances of an inconvenient bus meeting. Any recommendations food or cycling wise welcome.

Was too lazy to get up at 7 to get out to Redhill to meet up with the LFGSS crew starting there at 9. Had a bit of a lie in followed by a tasty bacon & avocado baguette and a nice coffee then hit the road at 11:40. Talk about giving them a head start. At that point I didn't really think I'd catch up.
Bombed it along the usual route south out of London down the lovely lanes to Turner Hill. New shoe insoles were making my feet numb in different places than the usual painful hotspots, not that promising but still a nice ride none the less. Got past Turners and the feet were adjusting and the legs were feeling good. Had a nice average of 18 mph through there and up into the Ashdown Forest where I stopped for a quick bite to eat whilst looking at the view and also a quick pee break. Then kept on through rolling farmland until Horam where I stopped for more bacon! Bacon & egg baguette and a chocolate milkshake at a biker cafe. Needless to say I was the only one in Lycra in the place. Wessons Cafe, highly recommend it.
Pushed on into more rolling countryside and quite lanes. Really nice around this part of East Sussex. Had to take it a bit easy after the late lunch but the landscape was so pleasant this wasn't a chore. The miles just rolled by until I spotted the sign to Hesrtmonceaux Observatory.
Decision time. What chance did I have of meeting the others? Chances are they'd be long gone. Ah fuck it, I've come this far I'll take a look at the observatory anyway, I thought. Rolling along I see these rusted domes through the trees like something out of a scene in a video game. Went in to take a look and low and behold there are a bunch of fixie skidders sitting on the grass out front drinking beers. Feeling slightly dazed, I said Hi and sat down for a wee rest.
After a suitable time we cruised off to saunter through the lovely Pevensey Levels and the not so lovely clouds of midges. Was a nice change of pace to roll along chatting as opposed to bashing along on my own. Arrived in Polegate, grabbed a couple of beers and a couple of pork pies and got on the train. Ahh, relax. Top quality day out.
Tl:dr Was lazy missed start of forum ride. Rode by myself for a while. Met fixie skidders sitting around drinking beer. Caught train home.

This orgy of cocks is frightening my delicate wee sensibilities. I'm going for something a little more intimate, a nice little threesome down to Brighton and back geared for a gay old time. Enjoy.

I paid £75 for my esoles. One of the best cycling purchases I have made.
I got those specialized insoles + bike fit + told how to ride a bike properly = bye bye knee pain. Best £25 I have spent in a long time...
£95 for Sidas. One of the best purchases ever. My last pair lasted 5 years which is eff-all per year for no foot or knee pain.
All these.

25mph headwind on day 1!? I don't remember this.
Then again, I don't remember much...
It says WSW for that, so that would have been coming from left rear 3/4 for most of that ride. So nice wind assistance for most of it which is, I guess, one of the reasons it was such a cruise.
Also, 21 mph WSW on Sunday, pretty much directly behind us for last 13 miles or so. No wonder it was so nice.
I credit this for me legs actually feeling ok this week up until riding home yesterday. It was like a recovery ride. I've actually felt worse after 3 days commuting. Don't get me wrong, I was shattered from lack of sleep but legs were ok. They're glad for the rest today though.
WFH days FTW!

I love that spot. Always stop at the little shop opposite for a refuel when I'm out that way. Much bike ogling there.
