about 50 roadies in a huge peloton in some matching kit headed up OKR to town by Tesco at 5:45 or so
I saw that lot as well on Tower Bridge Rd riding 2/3 up well out in the oncoming lane past 2 lanes of stopped traffic and bus stopped in inside oncoming lane.
Not much room for anyone else on the road. Lucky for them the bridge had just opened and it was only other bikes coming towards them.

The meeting point for the ride is the church on Warwick Avenue.
This is the route that we are using
(Please note you can download a GPX if that's your thing, if you're awkward and want a TCX PM me your email address before Thursday evening).

The fast group - 2×82.85k:
Sub 3 hours out, no wee stops.
6pt reckons he could do it 19–20mph average solo so we'll be looking to improve on that as a group. I will also endeavour to teach him that his choice of unit is inferior.
People doing the fast ride one way will be frowned upon (unless they happen to carry on for a solo century warm down).1) 50/14- Winged
2) Object - Geared
3) joe smith - geared up to the eyeballs
4) FridayMarch26th
5) zanda - geared

10) The Bear - gearedFAST GROUP PLEASE NOTE:
Owing to the above riders in the fast group should be prepared to get themselves to Bletchley if they fall off the back. Again self-sufficiency is key.

Small group of five in the end but that meant we moved pretty quickly and effortlessly around. No punctures or mechanicals at all. Weather also stayed dry for it which was a bonus. Getting a slight soaking 10 minutes from home doesn't count after 6 hours of riding.
Really enjoyed riding around some interesting and different parts of London. Highlights for me, apart from the obvious viewpoints were:
- First visit to Ali Pali (after almost 12 years in London)
- First Woolwich Ferry ride
- Dodging broken glass, wheel eating pot holes on switchbacks, overhanging brambles and steel fences to scale and descend the treacherous Becton Alps (only hill in East London & abandoned dry ski slope)
- Sligh odour of poo as trade off for car free travel along the Greenway form near the Olympic Park to Beckton
- View from the Parkway near Highgate Wood
- Possible spot of Noam Chomsky in the aforementioned Highgate Wood tell us there was no cycling in the wood. Naughty fixie skidders.
- And shots of vodka on the street outside the Ma3k residence. Cheers!
Thanks for the company all and especially our dear leader for his fascinated commentary on quirky bits of London history.

When I get up there I find the racing bike suspended from the middle of the ceiling, like a sacred centrepiece. The metal parts are gleaming silver and there are several scary looking cleaning products and blackened toothbrushes on the floor.
Really evocative piece of writing. Part religous shrine, part horror movie scene. Nice.

Great people. Great ride. Great day out.
Will admit to feeling a little broken afterwards mainly due to my inappropriate choice of 79GI. Still stoked to make it up the Ditchling though, even if I did get passed near the top when I slowed to little more than walking pace.
Next time I'll be a bit more sensible.....maybe.
Didn't even allow the shitfacecuntmotherfuckermotorist who beeped his horn and turned me left with the side of his car on the way home from Clapham Junstion to ruin my day. My brusied hand/wrist vs. his missing wing mirror = shitfacecuntmotherfuckermotorists 0 fixieskidders 1.
It's just as well I left my d-lock at home on for that ride. Might not have made it up the Ditchling with the extra weight. Might have had difficulty removing it from some arsehole.

The person I DAS's was on what looked like a titanium frame - i.e. bare brushed metal, they had a really good beard, Rapha cap, Rapha longsleve top (black) and three quater length shorts possibly also Rapha. It was just before Barnes Bridge - I was taking a walk to see the ducks.
Yep, 'twas me. Fully Rapha'd up. Riding my weekend Ti bike. Moda Senza.
Don't believe those geese, they're liars.
-
Bit laet but was it someone on here who I DAS'd on Sunday at about 5pm near Barnes? He looked a lot like Dancing James but wasn't sure.
Was also DAS'd round there round then. Just passed Barnes Bridge about 5:30. Coincidence? I think not.
Who is the mystery DAS man?
Didn't oblige as I was in my own little world and didn't figure out I'd been DAS'd until too late.
