Got some Shimano levers that are pretty dirty, the off white hoods have seen better days.
Soapy water didn't do a lot for them, but I tried some citrus cleaner we have at work and it cleaned them up pretty well, although there are still some black marks left, also the rubber is a bit sticky now.
Any good chemicals for cleaning rubber/gum that won't damage it? Is the stickiness a sign that the rubber has seen better days? Maybe worth just buying new hoods?

Doktor P - I'll pass for now, I'm probably going to stay geared for a little while to see what I think, so would need a freehub ideally.
There's a guy here looking for a wheelset in London, sounds like what you have could be spot on for him? http://www.lfgss.com/thread66864.html
Stonehedge - no doubt a great price, and if this was next month I'd be seriously tempted, but a bit more than I want to spend at the mo.

Chris - already had a look in the thread, will probably look again when I decide what I want once the build gets going (style/colour, etc) but for now I'm after something cheaper to get it rolling.
Vince - nice looking wheels, but yeah, more than I'm looking to spend at the mo. Tight I know, but this month has been heavy!!

Looking for a cheap wheelset to get me rolling, will be used with rim brakes, pretty sure rear is 126mm but steel frame so will have some give. Will also be needing some tyres to go with them, but will buy new if nothing comes up.
Anything considered, but not looking to spend too much. Just after something to get the bike useable, can upgrade in the future as necessary.

Won this Nigel Dean bike last night, hadn't heard much about NigelDean, but a 531 F&F with possibility of a few useable bits chucked in seemed like it should be worth £40....

Not 100% where to go with it until I get it, but originally I was going to convert to singlespeed, but thinking I might run it geared for a while first, unless the bits on there are no good. All looks like Exage 300, so not great kit but should do the job if still in working order.
Need to sort a wheelset out though or at the very least a front wheel (obviously!), just not sure what to go for. Don't want to spend mega money as want this to be a budget build to see how I get on with it.
Just built this Nigel Dean 531 up, still got a few bits i want to replace, but useable for now.
Intended to build it SS, but the frame came with mechs & crankset that were useable, so will run it geared for a bit. Needs some tan hoods.
