Out of interest, what spoke length did you use when you built your Zeus/Akront wheels?
I'm finally getting around to lacing a pair of 36h old logo Zeus track hubs to matching Akront tubular rims. For a 3cross pattern, I'm calculating ~296mm for the front spokes and ~295mm for the rear spokes. Any thoughts..?
Cheers!

Have you come across these guys? http://www.standbikeme.com/product-category/vintage/wheels/
They're in Valencia and are selling some pretty sweet vintage Spanish gear. (no 28h rims though..)

Hi all,
I'm after a set of Zeus track cranks, 165mm with the old Zeus logo, (preferably BSC, but I will settle for French thread!) i.e.:
http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7228/7288206894_dd582e22bd_o.jpgI'm trying to find original Zeus running gear for an early 70s Zeus frame of mine
https://farm7.staticflickr.com/6094/6367903155_ba48dd7666_b.jpgAfter much searching, I've got almost all the Zeus parts I need - the major thing I'm still missing is the cranks... If anyone has a set going spare, please let me know!!
Unfortunately, I'm mostly in Australia, which might complicate payment/shipping. Am happy to pay over paypal and can always get things shipped to friends in the UK if that's easier.
Cheers,
David. -

Sweet, well i went ahead and ordered it... keep my fingers crossed i suppose.
Came across these the other day that you might be interested in too. (seeing as i speak zero spanish i have no idea how reputable this website is)

H, do you think these headset parts could be french thread? (still waiting for a reply from the seller)
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=281296030775
All the british Zeus headsets i've seen are stamped BSC and this one doesn't appear to have a stamp...

Yep, that headset looks like the business. The one I have currently looks identical to this one http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ZEUS-CRITERIUM-HEADSET-FRENCH-THREAD-METRIC-25X1-NEW-NOS-VERY-RARE-/260954436284?pt=Cycling_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3cc218b2bc&_uhb=1 which is a steal at $250US (not..). I think I paid about $40 for mine, ha.
Don't speak spanish I'm afraid, would probably make it a whole lot easier to trawl spanish forums looking for parts if I did...

Cheers. I did a bit more searching as well and the fork crown looks to be the same as this (another 'apparently' zeus frame): http://www.foromtb.com/attachments/zeus20-20-jpg.3327890/
There's more details about this build here: http://www.foromtb.com/threads/proyecto-restauraci%C3%B3n-zeus-pista.758265/page-4
The pedals I found are allegedly British thread. Hopefully I can find some old logo british thread track cranks to match them... Also, I'm pretty sure sure that my headset is much newer than my frame (2000-era) - so I'm also on the lookout for an old french thread zeus headset. argh!

Yeah, I think my frame is early 70s. Angles and lugs do seem to match the frame you linked me too, but the fork crown is completely different... To me, it looks to be a pretty close match to page 104 of this catalog: http://www.velobase.com/resource_tools/DownloadFile.aspx?Path=%2fCatalogScans%2fZeus%2fZEUS_102.pdf&FileName=ZEUS_102.pdf
(I used to have a much better quality colour scan of this page but I seem to have lost it...)
Will take some better photos of the lugs and seatclamp and I'm going to try snap up that zeus seat. Got some pedals coming my way soon too!

Good spotting on the road fork! I do also have the the original track forks. Some previous owner had done a monstrous job drilling a brake-hole in it and I was getting it repaired when that photo was taken.
At a glance the dropouts do seem to match the one's in your photo, will try to take some better photos. No gaps under the BB shell though... :S
I did show it to a frame builder who had imported Zeus frames to New Zealand in the 70s and he immediately recognised it as being a legit Zeus. He even commented that the dropouts were Zeus, not campag... Was kind of old and batty though so I think I'll just treat his evidence as anecdotal...

Dude, I'm super jealous of all the Zeus gear that you've gotten your hand on. Here's my Zeus Pista frame that I picked up a few years ago:
My guess is that it's from around the early 70s, has french thread coming up the wazoo... I've been planning on slowly replacing the running gear with original Zeus parts, but have only done the BB, headset, seatpost at this stage. Unfortunately, Zeus parts pretty much never come up for sale here in Australia...

I might be a year too late... but if you're looking to sell your Zeus 102 Catalogue let me know :)
