EDIT: Does anyone know what saddle it is? Because that needs to be replaced if it does not get extra period correctness/originality points.

Looking great Ruud!
Oh, and I have the choice of white, black, brown and orange cotton bartape. As in, already in my possession. Advise me. I'm tempted to go orange black harlequin on at least on bar-combo but also curious how brown would pan out. Black would be easy and easy winner with the decals and black/grey bits.
And you know I have a love for black stuff...

Can't wait to see the first full Thomson Cockpits and I'm really curious about them. Anyone planning on buying one soon?

seriously?! bad luck dude! All fine with the Dolan? You got hit or visaversa? Wouldn't a front brake 've come in handy?! (playing with ya..) Will the driver pay up?
Yeh it's okay. Running a shitty rear wheel now though that reminds me of how nice and smooth it was running before.
Not really a case of a lack of braking. He hit me just as I was passing in front of him. Clipped my rear wheel. Apparently he didn't see me...
He brought me home though which was alright and he's gonna pay for all the damage, so no real harm done in the end.Maybe. Surely it depends on what you’re using the bike for?
IMO cost is a big factor, especially on a high spoked wheelset. The deference between 70 odd ACI’s and c.70 Competitions is noticeable. If there’s not going to be a benefit then it’s just a waste of money... and I dare say plenty of shops would just up-sell you them on the basis that they’re ‘*the best*’.
I do agree that on high spoked wheels these things matter less. You don’t need uber-spokes that can withstand high tensions, because you don’t need the high tension. But then your/the bikes weight and how stiff you want the wheel it still going to come into play.
I think DT Swiss alpine iii’s are the strongest there are. But those are for touring, where (as I understand it) you want high tensions because of the excess weight.
Ultimately, it depends how geeky you want to get and how much you want to spend. If you’re really interested in this sort of thing check out the WW wheelbuilding thread.
Soooo, that's the spokes figured out. What if I can't get another Kinlin XR200? Because when searching the Interwebs, I couldn't find a supplier in Europe for them.. Any ideas?

Got hit by a car monday night, resulting in a wrecked rear wheel. Hub is fine though.
currently made up out of the following:Mack low flange single fixed
16x sapim laser
16x DT Swiss competition
Kinlin XR-200Thinking about getting it rebuilt the way it was, but I'm just curious if anyone here has any ideas about a possible better setup?

NJS stuff tends to be really well made and flawlessly finished old technology. For example my ITM stems/bar quill combos are not nearly as solid as my Nitto ones. As fetishes go NJS is a harmless one.
Guess I have a kind of Japanese obsession for things that are neatly crafted. Not saying that other bikes/parts aren't, it's that more that strictness the Japanese tend to have in things that I kind of like.

-Alu all day track bike
-Steel Track Pub beater (my friends actually ride it when they come along)
-Steel Track only bike
-Steel Distance geared bike
-Nice geared show bike (just looks awesome, i keep it above the couch)Pretty much the same here, kind of need to get that nice steel track bike though.
Although the friends that come over don't have to ride my beater, they're comfortably on the back seat of my tandem.*
*causes a lot of drunken fun

light front hub!?
If you're okay with 2 grams more, I'd buy something like a novatec super light hub:
http://www.bdopcycling.com/Hubs-Road.asp
which I'm currently using as you can see ^ and it runs beautifully,so you can save yourself 100 dorrah
-
I'm currently using a wheelset built up with the following:
Front
Novatec Superlight road hub
28 Spokes: Sapim lightweight
Kinlin XR-200
Laced 3xRear
Mack single fixed
32 Spokes: partially Sapim lightweight / partially beefier spokes (don't know which)
Kinlin XR-200
Laced 3xWeighs in at 1322 grams
I weigh in at 82 kg
Rides nicely for me, although these Kinlins aren't recommended for people over 85 kg, but I think that's for 24 spokes.
