Interesting and inspiring thread! Can we ever truly be 'free' in modern society which seems to be so advanced and provides so much information, yet demands so much from us, in addition to the pressure we put on ourselves?
I come from a family of restless spirits and 'the grass in always greeners'. Having grown up in numerous countries, with dual nationality, and family at opposite ends of the earth, none of the qualifications and accolades my siblings and I have gained, or their respective professions (veterinary medicine, architecture, broadcast journalism etc) have managed to fulfil us, so we seem to have spent our working lives doing lots of foreign travel, loads of things outside our jobs and in my case, changing career paths, gradually working out what I'm good at and what feels authentically worthwhile and fulfilling to me, and not detrimental to my emotional wellbeing, for the sake of pleasing others or making more money.
It sounds a bit clichéd but I think experiencing some sort of life-changing event such as a serious illness, accident, bereavement, redundancy etc. can provide a natural opportunity to take stock and perhaps take a long dreamed of leap of faith. If you can make changes without waiting for a major predicament to arise, that's great. I can understand why it might feel impossible to walk away from a vocation that took you 7+ years to train for but ultimately, no one will thank you for staying in the profession, if it means you're growing increasingly resentful, bored or miserable. And I don't think anyone would judge you if you decided to return to medicine later either. Thankfully we live in an age when it's not so weird to chop and change many times if we wish.

I'm looking into having one installed outside my work place in Peckham, now that my bike's been squished by the boss's dozy brother in his car (he was in a strop for a day and took three to apologise) and then banned from the premises due to it being a hazard (ffs!)
My suggestion that it will most likely get stolen if left outside the nearest stands by the Jobcentre all day, however good my locks are, was scoffed at. Then I was asked why I couldn't walk or bus to work or "just give it a go leaving it outside". Sure, I could if they buy me a new bike - but it's the principle!!! >>>> rant thread

Nice leaflet David, most of your tips will be as useful for beginner adults too.
I most definitely was not measured for my first bike - I think the main requirement when choosing it was that it would allow at least 4 years of growth. ;) Amazingly it survived 10.
My bike being massively too big to start with, then eventually too small, didn't put me off, or cause injury, but today when I see kids riding ill-fitting bikes (usually with parents who look equally uncomfortable on theirs) I wonder why bike fit advice isn't made a lot more available at point of sale.
tl;dr: Perhaps include something about reach/saddle height?

We're in a movie, of sorts: https://youtu.be/6Ug2-fCGuu8
In fact the people who made this are "looking for veggies, vegans and meat-reducers in the Peckham area to get involved in local social meet-ups."
Worth having a look around the rest of the site http://londonvegansocieties.com as well, if it's not yet on your radars.

It was certainly painfully clear that Obama had very little actual decision-making power. Since Trump doesn't seem to have much in the way of policy, strategy or agenda, or any political experience, I think we should be more fearful of the old-school career republicans who'll hold the reins...for the NEXT FOUR YEARS!

Dehydration can ruin cats' kidneys & kill them.
You have seen a vet haven't you @anthonyj?
-
I realise cats need fewer carbs than humans but the higher end dry mixes I've used (James Wellbeloved, Hill, Purina) seem to get all the right nutrients in, making wet food a calorific supplement.
It's day two without wet food now. Moses won't leave me alone and is extremely vocal about his disgruntlement. Maia has protested by bringing in a mouse last night and disappearing completely tonight...my resolve is waning!

No, not really for convenience. For their health mainly on the advice of several vets I've consulted and my research. I feed them expensive complete dry food from a self-administering feeder, that isn't high in carbs and unlike @anthonyj's, mine drinks lots so they are actually getting all they need without wet food, which vets I've asked says serves very little purpose and is much worse for their teeth.
It's also easier to keep their weight in check by cutting out wet food.
Mind you, it does feel mean. Today is the first day I haven't relented and they have been moaning about it since 3pm!!!

A couple of Peckham friends are doing this Menu Next Door thang on Thursday: https://menunextdoor.com/shortened/lcwzz
Sounds pretty good - and they are top notch cooks.
Like our catflap then. Clever.
