I've created a map! LFGSS Cheap Eats in London
The power of this forum is quite incredible..
-
Good thread. Added to the bottom of the list. I think the location should come first in capitals...
Just sayin'.-beigel shop on brick lane. 24 hour and a huge salt beef bagel for 2.50ish..
-The Churchill Arms - pub on Kensington Church st. just south of Notting Hill Gate. Pub on the front, but authentic cheap Thai restaurant round the back.
-Joy, indian on Broadway Market. This place is under-rated and dammed good!
-Tre Viet, Vietnamese, Mare Street - Full sit down meal for less than a tenner a head. Unless you have wine.
-Tayyabs - Whitechapel road - Brilliant Indian food, again, super cheap and super super good. Booking essential.
-LaHore Indian / Kebab - Whitechapel Road - Boom good and super cheap.
-Zeret Kitchen in Camberwell for Eritrean/Ethiopian food, unfancy looking, incredible food (good for a big party of people too), £10er a head including a beer will be plenty
-Mandalay on the Edgware Road for Burmese food, unfancy looking, incredible food, £10er a head including a beer will be plenty, booking essential
-Silk Road in Camberwell for Chinese food, awesome food, £10er a head including a beer will be plenty, booking advisable
-Makan on Portobello Road will give you change from a tenner. Best nasi campur I've come across.
-Kandoo (persian) on edgware rd is good as well, it's only a few doors down the road from Mandalay
-Patogh just off Edgware rd (by cafe Nero). Good Persian food on a budget
-Mangal Ocackbasi on Arcola Street, Dalston. Amazing Turkish charcoal grill, BYOB. Feast like kings for two is c.£30 (not including whatever booze you take). This place is all about the meat though - dunno how great the choice is for veggies.
-CAMDEN - that whole in the wall on your right hand side a few doors down as you come out of Camden tube - great steak baguettes -

Getting so pissed off with this fat cunt who gets in my way every morning in his skimpy hi vis vest riding a shit mountain bike! Sail's past when I'm waiting at red's then just troll's me by cycling along at 10mph, stuck out in the road so I can't get past! WAC!
Rant thread>>>>>>>>
Sheathy, come on be honest, it's the shit mountain bike that's really getting your goat ain't it!

Got my brooks saddle stolen twice yesterday...yes TWICE.
Was chained to the railings in London Fields along with about 30 other bikes, went for a ten minute wander, and came back to catch the dirty thief red-handed pulling my brooks of my cycle in broad daylight in front of everyone. After a little cafuffle, I got it back. He was some old sad pisshead.
Anyway, I've been meaning to scratch my name and number into it and after that I thought, I'll do that when I get home. Unfortunately home didn't come round soon enough. I went to the royal oak on Colombia Road, locked my bike up right outside the door, and when I came out the saddle had gone. Bloody scummers.
It was an old, not well looked after, B17 standard, so nothing fancy. Fit my ass perfectly though. It's been on my bike for a good year and a half and never had any problems before.

Very sad.
As others have mentioned I also commute over this bridge everyday and it's a horrible journey. Traffic is awful and at the start both ends vehicles try to treat it as if there are two lanes in each direction - simply not enough space. Crazy thing is, is that the pavement is enourmous so there is the potential to make it bicycle friendly. Or at least paint some markings.

I've been looking for a full bike for aaages, and it is very frustrating trawling through everything. Saying that though, every time I do go to buy one someone always seems to have pipped me to it. Yesterday I got my dibs and PM in two hours after the post went up, but apparently someone had already beat me to it via PM only...
I'm just getting the hang of it, if we introduce sub categories making it easier for everyone i'll never get my bike!
I can't make these decisions, they're just too big for me. It would make the site more user friendly. It would shift the focus of the forum to trading though - good for the casual user and the site, but less personal for the 'on heres' though.
