Been working at a heritage railway this week and spotted this albino mushroom / fungus about 1/3 way into one of the tunnels. It’s 100% as white as it looks with grey flecks and it’s growing on ballast covered in coal smoke deposits. It’s pitch black that far into the tunnel and one of the drier bits.
Anyone recognise it? It’s the only colony in the whole tunnel.

Good shout. I also want something I can get four fingers round. The Speed Dial levers are two finger levers and we have to hold onto them for about 30 minutes at a time.
[It’s only proving out some tech on a prototype so it’s only got to work a couple of times. We can put up with some dreadful ergonomics as it’s only being used a couple more times]

Probably ought to ask this in the mechanics section, but what are the longest cable mtb brake levers one can currently buy? Tektro look like they do some fairly long ones.
It’s on a heavy contraption with BB7 mtb calipers re-worked to operate as always on (a sort of dead man’s handle type brake) and Avid Speed Dials to pull them off, but it needs a bit more leverage.

the one I replaced it with appears to be a little on the small side
That’s quite common. It might not be the tamper which is too small, often the basket is bigger than it says it is. There might be an oversize tamper available for your model. For example, you can get 58.4mm tampers which are a better fit in Gaggia 58mm baskets.

Properly integrated sub should not be distinguishable from the stereo soundstage.
Big statement, careful with that one!
Different speaker to main system, different response, different amplification, different crossover position, different physical position, chance of facing different direction. Without matching all of that up and/or doing some pretty in-depth dsp it’ll never be well integrated.

I prefer a bit hotter than 300°C!
We tend to have them set at 360°C at work but I sometimes prefer up to 390°C so you can get in and get out really quickly. Sounds counterintuitive, but a hotter iron sometimes puts less heat into the joint 👍
Seconding lead solder here. We struggled away with lead-free for a while at work but it was affecting the quality of our wiring. Eventually we just binned it off and went back to leaded.

I don’t want to go as far as saying you’ve got a problem, but that’s a lot of KT66 valves for one person to own 😀
What are the amps and specs?
