Just checked the specs and prices of the various Canyon and Cannondale options and the Canyon with Force and Kysrium Elites for £1600 looks the pick.

Well... When I made the swap from alu (Lemond) to carbon (Focus) a couple of years ago I was surprised at the difference in comfort. Having said that I rode a CAAD10 at an Evans event last year and preferred it to a BMC ProMachine that I threw my leg over 5 minutes later.

If I was buying now for short rides and crit racing I'd go for alu and spend the difference on some mega wheels.

There's something about red anodising that makes me turgid.

Looking at new road rides at the moment it seems that Dolan is hard to beat. You can pick up the Ares (the frame that the An Post team use) with SRAM Force and 3T kit for £1600 and it's only another £200 for Red. The site isn't very well done but I haven't seen anything that compares value wise for a while.

Am I the only one who thinks this is actually a bit of a deal with all that kit attached?

For reasons that are too dull to go into I have acquired a DA 13t 3/32" sprocket and a generic 15t 3/32" sprocket and would like to trade these for a 16t and a 15t in 1/8" flavour. Both of mine are unused and I would, obviously, be looking for something of comparable quality. I'm in Hammersmith.

What are the goldtec rings like? They seem a solid, cheaper option for the track when compared the obvious imported stuff.

The difference in material price must be pence. Just shows how much trainers are marked up.

I've never been able to work out why spikes are so much cheaper than trainers.
