Dude - stop obsessing and just pick one. Time's are good. SPDs are good. Frogs are good. Eggbeaters are good. It's all about personal taste but until you start to ride on them you won't have any sort of personal experience to draw on.
Start with one of them and go from there, learn what they're like, and then make your mind up to change or keep your decision.
Besides your "umm-ing" and "aah-ing" is only delaying your riding in the nice weather. That's criminal.
Done I am going to go with the Time XS with a Shimano MTB shoe!

so does everyone in this thread think that Time ATACs are the best going for commuting compared to Speedplays Frogs/Zeros and Crank Bro's Candy/Eggbeaters?
With Time are all their road pedals only single entry for example the AllRoad Gripper? Would really appreciate the feedback cause I want to get my pedals as soon as. -
Feet at level in the cranks, dominant foot forward, front wheel turned towards that foot. see if you can find a slight camber to practise against, and resist against it. Gentle rocking back and forth, and you should nail it.
Don't worry about falling over, if you feel you are losing it, just pedal forwards and roll out of it slowly, then put you foot down.
Practise every time you stop! Every red light, whenever you get to your destination, every time! Though made sure you've got enough space to roll forward safely. This is important. I don't want you to die.
It won't take long. It's one of those things that you'll keep trying for ages, then all of a sudden it'll click. Don't give up! It's worth learning, it'll make you a stronger rider, and there is a great joy of being able to cycle your whole journey without putting your foot down.
Couple of last tips I've remembered, standing up in the saddle makes it easier, and some people find that one of your knees touching the top tube helps (extra point of contact or summat).
Good luck! I'll see you at the lights.
Thorough information there ben cheers for the help!

So what you guys think then definitely the Time ATAC XS over Speedplay Frogs? With either this type of shoe: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=25360 , http://www.ukbikestore.co.uk/product/35/mp66w/shimano-mp66w-white-multi-purpose-shoe.html

I know there is various discussions out there regarding different choices of pedal.
But wondering if anyone has tried all (or any) of the following three:
Was originally going to get CB Eggbeaters but then decided to look at SP Frogs for their look and float, but now I have seen lots of people really liking Time Atacs XS.
I am new to clipless so looking for something that is easy to clip into and our of especially in lights and also has a walkable cleat as there are a few hills by where I live I sometimes need to walk a bit.I really appreciate all the help.
Thanks

New to the forums my friend recommend me here I am from Wales (cue the sheep shagging banter) I know this is a London thread but learning a lot from it already, great people here!
I have a brand new Genesis Flyer 2011 model which I am currently getting used to the SS side of things and as Wales is quite hilly is making me push myself to the limit. -
-
I am an idiot... got my years wrong!
Offered a 2011 for £480.
Sorry, JD.
I received my 2011 Genesis Flyer last week. Originally I was going to get the 2010 model for its reasonable price but The UkBikesDepots (amazing service from the place highly recommended) offered me the 2011 model for the same price £479 plus free delivery!
I am in love with it at the moment. Much rather the colour of the 2011 model compared to the 2010, the only thing I dislike about it is the stock pedals which I am changing soon to Time ATACs and the stock wheels (Continental, not sure which model) are beginning to show wear already with only a few days use! But these can easily be changed! You will not regret your purchase at all! I went with the size 56 frame I am 5'11 and inside leg of 31" seems to fit me just fine.

Aliums seem to last a while. I've got 2 sets that are now over 10 years old - zero attention, loads of use and abuse. Still function perfectly. One of the best bang-for-buck bike components you can buy.
Thanks for the feedback mate they are going so cheap on wiggle at the moment still deciding between XS or Alium I just want to make the decision ha, I have the money to spend the extra but is it really worth it?
Ps Has anyone used this site before http://www.shinybikes.com/time-atac-xs-pedals.html not sure if it seems legit? -

I find it nearly impossible to do a trackstand on my ss, just wondering if you guys are capable of doing it and if it is worth learning it are there many benefits learning to trackstand other than at lights and hills? I usually just put my foot down on the ground instead of trying to make a fool of myself by tipping over by attempting to trackstand.

thanks I also found some dhb shoes that has the uses spd cleats (is this is the same as the time atac?) http://www.wiggle.co.uk/dhb-m1-mtb-shoes/
I think I'll fork out the extra money for the XS pedals as people on the forums have said the bearings will last a lot longer than the Alium in this price range are the Speedplay Frogs have any of your guys used both?
What I have seen so far it is quite a mixed bag. -
Nope. The difference will be lighter weight and perhaps better bearings.
Those Shimanos are 3-bolt road shoes so not suitable for ATACs. You need 2-bolt MTB style shoes if you want to use double-sided ATAC pedals.
Thanks for the quick feedback really appreciate it I was going to order those shoes too, I didn't even look to see if they were 3-bolt are there any decent road shoes that can take 2-bolts, or would I be best just sticking to MTB shoes for the times? I am used to a thing shoe cause I wear canvas shoes quite a lot.
Thanks once again.
I bet Boris pulls off a mean trackstand
