Hi all,

I'm trying to get to the bottom of why this flip-flop hub i've picked up is spaced as it is. It's an old Le Tour / Normandy, 36spoke flip flop (fixed/free) hub, numbered 41 76.

Overall spacing is 120mm, the fixed side protrudes about 24mm from the flange whereas the free side protrudes 36mm. It looks as if it should have a cassette/freewheel on one side but this wouldn't make any sense. How should it be laced?

Can anybody shed any light on it?

FYI the seller was dave1941950 and deserves a big fat neg.

All sorted now. In fairness he sorted out a refund but I lost out on postage. IMO it doesn't change the fact you shouldnt be selling crap like that! Anyway, lesson learnt... my advice, stay away!

Very nice! loving those chrome lugs and it's just my size. Really don't need another bike haven't got room for another bike in the house right now.

I wish! I emailed the seller requesting postage and agreed on £16 to London.

Seller has been good actually, he's offered a refund minus the postage...so I'm at a loss of about £25. The only problem is I've just spent the last two days building up a nice set of 27's and after all the anticipated excitment...it's turned out to be a massive let down.

p.s. seller claimed to do the restore himself, stated I got a good deal and likened it in messages to a 'restore by argos of bristol'. Now I've never used them, but I hope they're better than that.

So I just purchased this lovely restored Harry Quinn on ebay, looked beautiful in the pics and couldn't wait for it to arrive. £112, bit steep on the price but never-the-less, its been restored/resprayed etc.

Anyway, I recieved it this morning... contray to the above... here it is in all its glory (NOT)...missing ball bearing in the headset, look at those printer paper decals?! nice 531 sticker cut round the edges... crap paint job...original forks made in Taiwan...

I'm going for a refund (minus the postage) but I've been told that apparently MOST people would PROBABLY be happy with it... am I way off the mark here? Your thoughts please... I've been had right?! Would YOU be happy with it?

I ended up stealing yours... they look surprisingly alright!

It's going to look like a vintage racer so will have two brakes... it also may end up as a singlespeed.

I've just picked up two normandy front hubs, one is 32 spoke, one is 36 spoke...

Has anybody got a rear in either 32, 36 or both, kicking around that they don't need?

I'm trying to hunt down a pair of brake levers in silver for my fixie, I'm looking for something similar to some dia compe tech 4's or maybe something with brake ajuster screws...

Would prefer to steer clear of those super cheap MX ebay copies that sell for a fiver.
