One thing to bear in mind when comparing prices of bags is the actual size/capacity/features and materials quality....just because something looks similar, doesn't mean it is.
For example, I've seen people comparing the £34O Black Rainbow Project 'RED' bag to the PAC ultimate which is approx £5O cheaper in Brick lane bikes...But is also smaller, has all plastic buckles, and some different materials and features. If you were to compare the BRP 'RED' to the biggest PAC which is the ultimate oversized the price difference would be smaller. Also bags like Chrome, Mission workshop, SAG, T level, etc are all made on a much larger scale, and are made in countries with a weaker currency than ours which will always make them far cheaper than a UK made bag...especially if the UK made bag is then having to import the materials from other countries.
At the end of the day, You pays your money, you takes your choice.
It's like comparing a mass produced frame to a handmade custom frame...some people may not notice the difference between the two, and can't understand why one is twice the price of the other, but the devil is in the details...and it can quite often be the smallest details that make the biggest difference in both comfort and longevity. Just because a bag looks good on the outside, it doesn't mean it's been made to last. From what I've seen of Belk, Levrier, Project Tortoise, and myself over the years...The UK is doing a bloody good job of giving the bags from other countries a run for their money.
You may save a few quid in the short term by buying bags from other countries, but by supporting the UK builders you're making it that much more likely for them to be able to expand and hopefully, eventually, be able to reduce their own prices a little.
One of the biggest reasons the UK builders are less well known worldwide is because the cost of shipping combined with a potential customers weaker currency just makes them too expensive to people outside of the UK.I'm not one to promote the 'buy local/buy British' thing just for the sake of it...but the UK bag builders are now able to offer products of comparable, and sometimes even better quality to their foreign competitors. With companies as good as PAC out there, that is no mean feat.

Do you have any examples of the 'Big bags'?
Couple of pics HERE on Prolly's blog.
Message me if you need further info. -
I will have another batch of pouches available early next week...Big bags have been taking priority recently. Please don't start any dibs lists though...I'll start another ad once i have them ready.
To save starting another new thread though...
Black Rainbow Project will be adding lock holsters to the range very soon. Same hardcore polyester webbing as the rest of the range, plastic reinforced, with built in blinky loop..no saggy seatbelt webbing here. Available in mini d or fahg versions to work with most common d locks. should hopefully be about a tenner each!Let me know if you might want one so i can gauge interest.
Cheers! -
They're all gone from this particular batch, but I'll be making more in just over a week.
There is no seconds list for any that aren't actually made yet though.
When I have more to sell I'll post a new ad and then it's first come first served. I don't want to get into a list situation again.
Cheers! -
I currently have 8 of my 'Violet' hip pouches available for immediate purchase.
They are £5O each and 1O% of each sale will be donated to the LCEF.
PM me if you want one.
Cheers! The Black Rainbow Project "Violet" Hip Pouch continues with my philosophy of putting just that little bit more into everything I make. It measures 6.5" wide, 7" tall, and 2" deep, but lays almost flat when empty. Its perfect for carrying your spare tube, tire levers, pump, multi tool, credit cards, keys, phone, D-lock, favorite teddy bears, etc. The rear mounted D-lock holder fits both Mini Evo's and Fahgettaboudits, and probably most other common D-locks too. The lock sits against abrasion resistant, anti slip fabric to resist bouncing. Under the main flap is a PVC coated, mesh pen pocket, a webbing mounted D-ring for keys which can be tucked inside or left hanging outside the pouch for easy access.
The main compartment has a large flat pocket, and two narrow upright pockets inside, and is sized to fit a mini A to Z. External elastic pump loops allow you to carry a micro/mini pump without taking up valuable space inside the pouch. What really sets the Violet pouch apart from the competition is the expanding secondary flap strap. This velcro covered strap lays flat against the main flap when not needed, but allows you to carry all manner of things which would otherwise be impossible to fit inside such a small pouch. It's perfect for carrying lighter items like a stowaway jacket or gloves, but can also be used to carry water bottles, cans of beer, roadkill... whatever you can fit under there without pulling your pants down. The strap and face of the flap are covered with anti slip fabric to help keep things secure, but that isn't a guarantee that you won't drop your faberge egg whilst doing the twist, so make sure its safe first.
The Violet pouch is built to last with a combination of 1000D Cordura, abrasion and slip resistant waterproof fabric, 420D pack cloth, nylon webbing, metal D-ring, and high strength velcro, and as with all Black Rainbow Project products is only available in good old hardwearing black.

For anybody interested in a less 'messenger' style backpack, you should check Lemolo baggage. Eli has been making a lot of changes lately and his new stuff is coming along nicely.

Quick phone pic of the Black Rainbow Project D-lock holster...2 lengths available to work with mini or full sized locks. Hardcore polyester webbing with plastic reinforcement and built in blinky light tab.
These are pretty hardcore due to the strength of my webbing and the full length plastic reinforcement. Prices will be £12.5O...and don't bother coming along with your "but you can get a fabric horse one for blah, blah"...cos these don't use single layer, second hand seatbelt webbing...and hand cutting sheet plastic and sewing through it with a double layer of this webbing ain't easy. :]
Works very nicely with the soon to be available Belt too, which gives a solid platform for hanging locks and pouches from...and gives you that superhero feeling every time you click the awesome Cobra buckle together. :]
