So I've got myself an old, tatty but good old Ciocc frame, forks and headset and some old road bars, quill stem and seatpost. Can't ride that at all.
The dilemma is: do I just slap any old wheels/crankset/chain on it as cheaply as possible just to get it into shape so I can ride it or do I go after some classic-looking stuff to keep it as 'period' as possible? It'll be for commuting/pub hack purposes, so ideally I want to be able to lock it up outside without it looking too attractive to Monsieur Bike Thief.
Question is, what's more appealing to said nickers? An old bike with Newish looking parts or a well thought-out build?

Well you'd think that, wouldn't you? But it just gets stuck at the bent bit.
