Ah I see - love the fact there's a "beers" button.
'twas good cycling with you on the Dunwich Dynamo Chainbreaker, although that was some time back and I have hardly done any forum stuff since then.
I'll have to deal meself in for some drinks and banter at some point - currently still shaking off a cold but I'll be there.

I think it's a twist on Sweet Home Alabama
Sorry to hear about your new injury nomoreknees - when do you think you'll be back on the road?
i like the look of the wandle trail - will have to try it soon.
Epping Forest is good, although I usually get lost (not really a problem) and the OS Landranger Map is full of errors (which adds a certain je ne sais quoi)
The riverside route to Windsor is lovely too, and you can take the ferry (3 quid for a 12 second journey - bargain!)
The canals can take you all over the place, and i've had no trouble on fixed 23c tyres. Just have to keep your eyes peeled for the bumpy bits near the locks (are they grips for horses/people?)
The three pimples also looks good - any route that goes near "Titsey" gets my vote. -
I'm not going to be able to make it :(
Have a great ride!

Thanks everyone for an amazing ride - great support and camaraderie throughout! I'm not sure I'll be able to look at a Mini Egg again, mind.
Well done Leo on an epic endeavor. Don't let the ballbags get you down or something like that, although I'm sure you wouldn't anyway.
Thanks so much to Jaitch, Katie and all involved in organising the coach and the related logisticals - it all worked out so smoothly.
Hopefully see you all around at some other events soon.

she got back to me. they have a strict policy on sponsored rides, etc. including no waiving of fees but she'll see if there's some way she can help me get access to a fresh bike
It's good they're being so accommodating. It will be ace publicity for them.
Do you think they'll send Boris down for a send off / see in ceremony?

boris bike DD training in action...
http://www.strava.com/rides/regent-s-park-hour-890970
the saddle is a killer... and i discovered there is no cadence, only mashing
34.7 mph! and a submarine section by the looks of things :)

I'm tagging along with you guys then! Brighton was fun fun fun. Honorary SE'er again.
Sorry this is a plug but if anyone fancies another long ride after DD then join us from London to Folkestone as part of a ride for Cancer Research: http://www.lfgss.com/thread68463.html#post2268206
That looks ace - wish I'd known about it before.
the glowy stuff idea sounds ace. I know poundland abound with it. Should we all bring bits and bobs of glowy shat to share out?

Is there a company that will build me a faraday cage for stormy rides ?
http://www.supertightstuff.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/faraday-cage.jpg
It would have to be carbon fibre of course - wouldn't want to look silly.
P.S. Genuine question - is there an OS/similar map made that covers the route? The one linked to from the official page no longer exists :(

Can it be done on a track bike or road bike? (I mean as is thin tyres and delicate frame/forks)
If so I could be... I've always wanted to go to Epping forest but don't have a hard wearing mountain/ trail bike:-(
I do it on my Langster with 23c Refuse tyres and it's fine. I think the non-dishing of the rear wheel gives a lot of extra strength compared to a bike with a cassette. I tend to go a bit off road, but obviously not totally into the bomb holes etc. Fire trail type tracks are fine. I imagine it's quite good training as you have to stand up and use your arms and legs as suspension, like in the days of fully rigid mountain bikes. You have to weight shift a fair bit too to maximise traction.
I don't know all the trails yet but I am trying to find more - the more you explore the more there seem to be!
Interested?

i tried an evening ride into epping forest last week, mainly to see if my very sexy (ahem) front bar bag works. i need to get a light to go on it though as it totally obscures the actual ones. thinking of putting a petzl head torch on so it doesn't reflect back in me face.
anyway, is anyone interested in the odd jaunt out of hackney into epping forest?

Is this to be a day or evening-stravaganza?
