Definetely beers on the Friday! Me and my cycle buddy Nick are back this year, him officially and me joining in the fun a little way down the road - probably sporting last years number for fun. We are trying to secure Whiskey a go-go's sound system for the Friday night and are looking to play a load of fine Brit fare - Kinks, Stranglers, Small Faces etc. Not sure why but we planned it pissed about 11 months ago and are still keen. Ridiculously out of shape this year after starting my own business but can't wait anyway. 4 nights in Gaiole this time...

Not sure if anyones mentioned it, apologies if this has been covered elsewhere - Tour de France fan park starts next Monday at Wood Wharf, 5 mins walk from Canary Wharf station. Should be excellent spot for watching outdoors on a pretty jumbo screen and you have the added delights of sampling cracking grub such as Buttermilk fried chicken from my van, Spit & Roast. Bleeker Burger there too who are ridiculously good, Zan took her inspiration from Shake Shack and ran with it. Discounts of course to any forum peeps, ask for Ross. Hope to see you down there! http://tourdefrancefanpark.co.uk/ ps sun, waterside, high rise vista etc all included

Aaaah, Dom Harding. I know him a little from Haggerston and Wu's market bar. A very pleasant fellow!

Just had a burger at http://www.rotarybardiner.com/
It was sick. One of the best burgers I've ever had. Think Lucky Chip still holds the crown, but this is def the runner up.
Carl Clarke who does the food at Rotary also has his own place, Disco Bistro upstairs at The Rising Sun near St. Pauls. Disco Burger pretty special but very, very rich

Finally had the tasting menu at The Sportsman in Seasalter last Tuesday after quite a few simple lunches off the chalkboard. Quite simply one of the best meals of my life, only Noma runs it close and that was 3 1/2 times the price. Its a pub, next to a caravan park in deepest Kent. The bread is served as a course in itself and all 3 (!) varieties would shine in a 3* establishment. You hear a lot of bullshit about food miles these days but this place really does epitomise local and seasonal. Pointless to try and list the highlights but just go. Train to Whitstable then walk, or bike, and enjoy some of the best four hours you will ever have.

Never happened, miserable day flat hunting and traipsing around town in the spitting rain, finally got to the market as they were closing, cold, wet and desperate for a warm bath. Had a burger from Motherflipper, ok, it's a burger, how good can they be?
Damn shame, I run Spit&Roast... be sure to shout if you make it down sometime soon...

Well I'll be trying to register - but if its to no avail I'll be there anyway. Public roads, get dressed properly, polish the steed, carradice saddlebag stuffed with food and water. Eat in Brolio / Montalcino / Radda / Panzano etc using your $40 you didn't have to spend... Wouldn't want to take the piss by taking advantage of food stops etc but would hate to miss out on the weekend. I could live without a photo and chunk of cheese.

Hello all, firstly great to hear you're on the mend Tika - just met you briefly the night before the ride and was horrible to hear of your accident. Sounds like you were smashing along though and hope to see you out in Gaiole again in the years to come. It was another amazing few days in Tuscany, not much I can say that hasn't been said above but great to meet you all and share the amazing experience that is L'eroica. Spotting someone with a crumpled LFGSS cap in their back pocket and having a nice chat as a result despite the 180k in their legs (only 60k in mine!) is pretty unique and what its all about for me - great to meet you Peter V and a truly heroic time you managed! The Forum takeover of Spaltenna was impressive - As was the effect of Stedlocks magnificent Hetchins on the multi cultural massive of Gaiole, truly something to behold - made one proud to be british! Glad we evaded that nutjob on the plane too. So, see you all next year I hope?

Getting properly excited now! Picked up hired bike pod from Cycle Surgery, and just back from a gravelly tow path ride on the Guerciotti which is running like a dream... Arriving Gaiole around 2pm Friday and intend to be quaffing Rosso Di Montalcino at Jolly Bar around 8 minutes later. Have eaten well and cheaply at Galleto Brianco in town over the last few years and might well head there Friday night, all welcome!
Has anyone London(ish) got a bike bag or box I could borrow for the Guerciotti? Happy to pay in cash, beers or whatever works. Normally hire one but as usual have left things to the last minute and they are all gone - only need it once a year! Cheers all. Can't wait to get out there now.
