Hello LFGSS, this feels a bit cringeworthy and a bit like a lonely hearts ad, I generally not one for internet forums but you lot all seem into bikes and taking the piss so we have that in common. OK here goes, Long time lurker, been in the smoke since Uni in 93 (yes I is old, 38) been living in Oval/Vauxhall for last 6 years. Was into mountain biking first and over the years have got into road bikes and single speeds, knees too wrecked to consider fixed and if I cycle up a hill I'm going to bloody wheel freewheel down it without risking shattering my shins to smitherines trying to get my feet back on pedals. I currently have 4 bikes and my 3 nice ones are blue, hence the user name. The bikes are Genesis flyer (the runt of the litter), Cannondale full suss mountain bike, Denti geared bike and a Mercian singlespeed, I will get round to posting pics of them once I figure out how to do it. I am currently out of work as I'm normally an NHS consultant who got culled by the new ConDem govt last year so I have plenty of time to ride at the moment but no money for new bikes, I really really really want a Erikson titanium hardtail so thats the next project when I get a job . Definately up for coming on some rides and attending some of the pub nights, Souths is the nearest it seems, been meaning to attend for a while but when I was working Monday nights on the lash seemed like a recipe for a Tuesday sickie and I did'nt get paid for sickies, and I seem unable to enter a pub and order a coke. Anyway no work now so no excuses not to come, a big hello to all and hope to see you out and about.
OK after managing a successful pic upload in the nursery i'm now being all cocky and attempting to post bikes, here goes, prepare for firey death if this goes pear shaped..... I have a face for radio so will not upload that sorry sight to the world wide interwebs, (there's no warrants out for me honestly)
I won't post the Gensis Flyer as they not exactly nice and its the runt of the litter thats never even been cleaned in 2 years. I do have a soft spot for it as the plucky underdog that takes all the abuse and horrible weather and never complains despite being clearly jealous of the other bikes in the stable.
See what i did there with the face, at least its a Roberts, hmmmmm
Then we have my 2005 Jekyll after a major offroad session in Afan Argoed and Brechfa in South Wales, brillaint fun. I also use it as an urban assault vehicle throwing myself around Londons street furniture. Its a warranty replacement for a 2002 Jekyll that I broke, well it tore in half in an attempt to become a unicycle when powering away from the lights cycling home from work past the tea building in shoreditch at rush hour, not a fun experience, I had to do the Team America distress signal to avoid getting splatted.
Then my lovely Denti Road Tech Five with crimped or tear drop shaped Columbus SL tubing done up with modern components, lovely machine, super comfy, my long distance ride. I know very little of this bike and hope some of you experts may know more about Denti's old bikes you could share. I've never seen another one and I've never even met another Denti owner, any here?
Then finally there's my dream machine, my 2010 Mercian Vincitore Special in 853 Pro Team Steel, totally besotted with this bike, too scared to leave it outside anywhere ever and is the one bike a vowed never to get rid of. Its my Sunday best bike and only comes out in nice weather but I can't get enough of it and can't helping smiling like a mad bastard everywhere i go on it, so if you see me i'm not on the happy pills, and contrary to what Lance says its all about the bike.
There we go, waffle complete, enjoy or hate as you so wish.
