Very much looking forward to this. Not around for recce, but this is the route I've taken before if you want to try a slightly different / quicker route back ... through Staines.

Out, I'm afraid - will be in Amsterdam, hopefully having a groovy time with Dutch bikes. Perhaps no bad thing - St James's Park is dangerously close to work and Phoenix is almost in my work - think I might find it a bit held me back a bit - plus I'd have to cycle round the park a few times first to make it like proper forum drinks.

Last minute trip to Derbyshire to see family - managed to squeeze in a 70k route round southern Peak District fuelled by hot cross buns and Easter Egg. Really enjoyed this. Amazing views, hardly any traffic, lambs, daffodils, skylarks ...

Best bits:
A sneezing sheep near Taddington
Managing to unclip in time when chain came off during a rapid gear change at the bottom of Millers Dale
Making it up Monsall Dale in one goWorst bits:
Long slow climb from Cromford Station the night before (legs empty from a 20k row / 6k run / 20k cycle on the ss that morning; denim shorts; a rucksack held together by safety pins after an epic zip fail on the train)Times I wished I had a triple: 2

+1 to rowing - but it is a bit more of a lifestyle choice than a hobby. (Ergs are evil though - much rather cycle than erg). The tri club I go to in S London runs brilliant coached spin classes - about a fiver a go, plus about £25 membership for the year. Definitely focussed on cycling - not a bouncy gym-style one.
I find guilt a good motivator - so anything vaguely coached works for me.

Great to meet you all. I learnt a lot (good condiment etiquette, what to shout at a safety-conscious fixie-not-so-skidder, that some people can make gun noises and some people ... just can't)
+1 to a group ride before too long. Windsor would great, or maybe out into Kent if we can face a few hills...?

Aargh! Another brilliant modernist building. And no hope of me getting there on a work day ... #tagasspectatorsport

Free-wheeling female is me. Promise I won't be geared - can I come and play too?

Alas I am a lazy free-wheeler and won't meet the strict fixed only rules for the Cambridge ride. But the road out to Windsor is also pretty flat and depending which way you go, some great views across Windsor Great Park.
Longandwinding - more than happy to lend a hand coralling people for a ride out there later in the season, if you like.
Going to do this geared, I think. We're booked on the SC coach for the return, but wouldn't mind tagging on to a Forum group leaving London for at least the first bit to give us a bit of navigational headstart.
