I have a Hobbs of Barbican that has been in my family from new (1951): my Wife's Dad bought it for a tour of the Loire. Mine has the rarely seen brass and glass enamel headbadge, and many of the original parts, those that were too far gone were replaced years ago - e.g Weinmann rims and Bayliss Wiley front hub...mine has it's original Brooks, GB 'bar and stem, seatpost, alloy bodied (rebuilt) S/A hub, and Universal brakeset, Bluemels 'guards of course.
It was purchased it from Hobbs, any details you need I'll be happy to help - if this thread is live still !
One poster was correct - although I've mentioned this many times over the years - about purchase tax - it wasn't levied on frames sold with just a chainset, and the Hobbs favourite was the ubiquitous Williams.

Both 531 throughout, long point Prugnat lugs with nice heart shaped cutouts, Campagnolo dropouts (seat tubes 27.2) Here goes -
Frame #1 - Raleigh Road Ace (WK007?565 - Chas Roberts repaint in pearl yellow), chrome on forks poor though, no dents, no rust, has rare original foil SBDU stickers on chainstays. Mine from new, seat tube 23.5" c2t, top tube 22.5" c2c. Campagnolo headset and BB not included. £95.
Frame #2 - Fred James of Lincolnshire. FJ did not build so this was bought in from Rick Powell or Barry Barron, top tube could do with repaint, no dents, lovely frameset with fastback seatstays. seat tube 22" c2t, top tube 21.5" c2c. £75.
Trouble uploading pics so pm with email I'll send by return.
Thanks for looking, Jon.

I bought this Raleigh Road Ace frameset - 531 throughout - new in the 80s while my SBDU was being built.
Seat tube is 58cms, top tube 57cms, rear dropout width 125mm (standard Raleigh dimensions), pretty sure they're long point Super Legere lugs (can catalogue check).
Chas Roberts paint in a stunning yellow pearl, with a chrome fork (chrome is now poor). Frame has Harry Perry (Woolwich shop) stickers as the shop's mechanic Steve Smith (of Wide Eyed and Legless fame) built it up and my SBDU - frame has the super rare SBDU stickers on the chainstays, Campagnolo decal on seat tube and the 531 sticker in the correct SBDU position.
Does not include C-Record chainset, C-Record headset or Look pedals!
No dents, looks stunning...it needs to go so £85-I'd prefer buyer to arrange courier but I'll happily package it up.
Thanks for looking, Jon.
N.B Harry Perry stickers easily removed and replaced with Raleigh ones. -

Hi guys,
I have 3 sets vintage brakes - GB Coureur 66 centrepulls, 2 x sets Mafac centrepulls (I set NoS and 1 set"Racer"), and a pair of Mafac - drilled type - brake levers.
One pair NoS (never built into wheels) SR small flange hubs, Campagnolo 980 front and rear mechs, a lovely Brookes B17 saddle plus a few other items.
Wanted to see if there was interest before posting images...prices will be keen and there's no tat here - all items were purchased for my builds that aren't going to happen.
Thanks for looking.
Jon.

Happy to,
and you have a nice collection for your build there.
My '52 is in kit form at the moment as I'm about the put it away for the winter, and rebuilding wheels etc. However I'll post a few images over the next few days.
It is easy to get carried away with these builds, I see one guy here is fitting a Chater Lea c/set on his Sportsweight, you'll find the typical c/set actually fitted by Hobbs, and featured in their catalogue, is the Williams (C34). Folk BITD often built their own bikes, buying the frame with chainset fitted, and then the separate components - buying it in"kit form"avoided purchase tax = cheaper bike.
I'll pm you shortly.Cheers, Jon.
So no interest in the shoes ?
Rk.
