Sorry to hear that - from what I’ve picked up, strains are often graded 1-3, with 1 being slight tearing of fibres and 3 being full-blown tears. You’re probably in the upper end of 1 or just about 2 by pure guesswork?

Obviously am not a PT, so probably better to speak to one (rather than a GP) and get a proper diagnosis and rehab.

Yeah, I’d second binning off waterproof shoes - they just hold the water in.
The super vented engineered mesh shoes marketed for summer weather are much better as they drain as fast as they take on and dry out very fast, especially if you stick them upright behind a dehumidifier.
My favourite heavy rain shoes are Novablast LEs.

Great meeting you too @rhb, was stoked seeing you cross the line at that time.
Was my first official marathon, made all the bit more meaningful as I DNF’d last year after stupidly starting with a stress fracture I’d picked up in training and it took me out for three months after doing 14km on it.
Finished today at 2:55:12, which I’m super pleased with, and the splits are good. The looped course gave us a fully grim headwind going south east but a bit of a taily coming back up.
Thighs were fully hurting at 30km so that part was a battle, as it always is.

That’s a great run, congrats on the PR, too. Looks like sub 3 is well within reach.
Interesting heart rate drift though - it jumped up a fair bit about 45 percent in. Maybe went out too fast but looks like you were in the 150s which should be comfortable (obviously everyone’s different so generalising here).
What was the nutrition/hydration on it?

Yeah, I use them quite regularly. It helps getting a bit more of an analog feel in some conditions (ie; if it’s sunny or lots of points of light)
Need to use them carefully as it’s obviously baked in and can’t be undone. If the conditions aren’t right, they just lower contrast. They also introduce reflections so you need to be careful where you point it.Try one of the cheaper ones - the Tiffen ones are great but pricey.

Got my SARB serviced by WatchGuy – thanks for the recommendation. It was running waaaay out and was great to see all the dissassembled images as they were working on it. It's running ridiculously well now and feels like it was good value.
Also lol at Royal Mail for leaving it on my doorstep in full view all day in a part of London where people literally steal wheelchair ramps. Christ knows how it wasn't taken.

Won the local Parkrun today and PR’d my 5k time at 18:10.
Was trying to hold 3:35 pace but km 4 ended up being 3:50 as I was on my own and trying to stay motivated, picked it pack up for the final km though. Missed out on a sub 18 this time but it feels THIS CLOSE.Also nice to see the training is working. I do very little speedwork so genuinely didn’t know how this was going to go and puts me at ease a bit for the next few weeks.

Watching some of his press conference just now. It still amazes me that some people see the same thing and get all fired-up. I want to play devils advocate and try and at least think “well, I guess he’s kinda got a point there” but it’s all just fucking mental rambling and saying if certain people are “smart” or not or how expensive the room is that the press conference is in etc.
