i still have a cooling issue. i think the fan switch is ruuted, and the fan is coming on early (1/3 on the temp gauge and staying on the whole time. either that or the car is running hot and the temp gauge is fucked. i suspect the former.
Do you know what temp thermostat the car is running? Ie a summer stat or a winter stat?
The B had a water pump mounted fan so has this been removed and fan fitted? Is it before or after the rad. -

I saw this incident today. The poor girl was on a bike and I heard her scream as she went under the truck. I was at the lights heading towards Oxford Street on a bike just a few metres away. I called the ambulance. I'm a bit traumatised by it all to be honest, and came across this thread after googling and hoping to find some good news that she was OK.
My new mission in life is to make a fuss to try to get something done about the way traffic goes round the Edgware Road end of the Marble Arch. About 20 seconds before this happened I was cut up by a black BWM that cut across the lane going towards Oxford Street - I swore at him a few times and a few seconds later the poor girl went under the truck. Unbelievable. It very nearly was me today. That junction is a mess.
I'm not religious, but thoughts and prayers go to that poor girl and her family.
Make sure you get you details get to the police/cyclist
Hope that the injuries are minimal.

I always thought the logic was that you push a smaller gear through winter so you get fitter/stay warmer and it means you will be more likely have sufficient power in your legs when the elements are putting more against you. Pushing a bigger gear in colder temps is more likely to give you an injury I think, colder muscles work more efficiently but it increases the chance of injury/muscle strain. Just because you'll be lugging stuff around when you're touring doesn't mean you need more power (I assume you're touring geared) because you'll be able to shift so you're at a comfortable cadence.
Someone may be along to correct me but that's how I see it.
I'm currently pushing 73GI and that seems to suit me quite well for winter (usually ride 85ish)
Isn't there something about developing slow and fast twitch muscle fibres? Depending on a tall or a small gear ratio.
Doesn't it also depend what your pedal style is?

Have you checked the resistance of the fan and temperature switches both hot and cold. But you'll need the ranges but that should be in the haynes manual.
