Has anyone tried doing Kandy Coats like this:
I'm looking at a nice finish rather that just a shiney flat colour. If Kandy isn't really possible with spray cans (Not sure if I can get the clear stuff in cans, any idea?) then something like this (which I think is a metalic finish with a clear laquer):
Any suggestions of products would be wicked. I've done Piano Black before, but I want to do this properly so need to get the right paint.
Thanks for any tips.
MonstaProper candys or dies are sprayed over silver base ,the silver shines through in the sunlight, that frame doesnt look candy to me but a straight metallic but i may be wrong hard to tell from the photo.I cant see it being done very well from a spray can

My friend gave me a Viking frame earlier this summer. I was pleased to discover Viking originated in my hometown of Wolverhampton after looking up info. Cool badge, too.
i used to visit the factory quite a lot with my dad when i was a kid, they used to churn out a lot of bikes and were quite popular.
love that badge,i think a lot of the UK badges were made in the jewellery 1/4 -
Is that your dad in the 1951 Mannin Veg pic.

My favourite picture of him is in the tour of egypt tyres round his back, dust everywhere goggles on ,racing through a sea of arabs. I will dig it out and scan it up,apologies didnt mean to show a whole set but i dont know how to link flickr photos -

I think that's a very odd view - Cycling Weekly were late to the Sportive bandwagon so to suggest it's somehow their fault that time trialling is declining whilst sportives boom is bizarre.
Time trialling is declining because it's stuck in the past. If you don't believe me look at what you have to do to enter one; decipher a code to find out the course (due to pre-war cloak and dagger shenanighans), discover it's on a dual carriageway that is a motorway in everything but name, get an entry form that demands to know your previous best times for the distance, send it with a cheque to an organiser then wait to see if you're in or not. If you do get in, which for the newcomer isn't guaranteed, then you've got to get up at 4 a.m. on a Sunday morning to ride.
For most sportives you're all but guaranteed entry, you can ride with your mates and there are goals set to aim for on a scenic, well signposted route.
great advice also try and join a club and maybe go to your first race sportive with a few members.
Road racing in the lower cats can be dangerous so before you race learn to ride on a wheel and comfortably with a group.Sportives are a nice way of easing into this. -

a stent goes inside atube and is bonded or welded ,IE an internal lug.Ive never done one I would either braze around the crack depending what it really looks like under the paint or pull the stay off and pop a new one on far easier.Would need to be a genius to touch that up without seeing it after far easier to spray the whole lot, depends how fussy you are
