@Perks. Don't need high end paintjob, I'm going to rattlecan it after the brazing is done...
So, you say you can braze for me? Do you have access to framebuilding materials or will I have to supply my own brakebridge?
Also, where are you working from, is this a labour of love for you?
Yes and yes ,
home paint is fine by me
I work from home, labour of love but dont work for free :) and I like cakes -
What do you use the bike for and for how long ?
pretty much impossible for anybody to say what you should do without seeing you on the bike and how your current position is set up.1st off is your frame straight ? back & neck pain doesnt always come from frame size.
A shallower seat angle and longer top tube is where I would look to make it more comfy if everything else is set up ok
But I stress nobody can advise properly without seeing you on it ,including new fangled calculators and email an expert websites -

Freekin' twitchy steering, but fast as a whippet.
ps. The replacement Zipp does my head in. The Hope rear hub is as noisy as Sumo's freehub on the Merckx
love the original shamal

Sounds lovely but have you had them drawn in to the carb and jam the butterflys open?
Or when the carbs were unshielded a lump of the heat shield sound deadening stuff drawn in?
I was rebuilding the engine they are to stop small people and cats getting in ,I run it with ITG filters
that was a serious question wasnt it ? -
This is why I'd recommend joining a club as a better way to get into racing than simply doing some sportives. My experience of sportives is that they're full of people who don't know how to ride well in a group, are prone to bad habits, and are more interested in their "gold standard" time than in working together or trying to promote safe riding.
YMMV of course, but joining the right club will get you access to a lot more friendly people who ride consistently together week in and week out (some of which do sportives, yes, but a lot of which just like riding on weekends in a group), racers of all levels to be teammates/support in races, and older guys who have been around for ages and know a lot about tactics, etiquette, etc. All for the membership price of a couple of cough overpriced sportives a year. Much more bang for your buck and a whole different mentality too.
I said that :) http://www.lfgss.com/post1739231-136.html
join a club, do a few club runs ,do a few sportives, get mullered in your first race, perfect -

It might be totally normal thing to happen, but just wanted to make sure so I don't end up having to buy a new crankset and BB.
BB is Sugino RD2
http://www.tokyofixedgear.com/shopexd.asp?id=736&bc=noBy flex do you mean on the cranks? Because I heard those Sugino RD2s were stiff blighters plus if I but weight on the front pedal (when they're horizontal) the back will move a bit making me think the axel is moving slightly.
Monsta
the obe wan in me says take up in your chain forget and ride young luke -
No lock rings, think the Sugino RDs are Shimano style.
The BB Shell seems fine, not entirly shure on the frame, I'll take a look at the weekend.I mean should there be any play at all here? Or should they be really really stiff?
Monstashouldnt be really stiff, you sure its not play in the chain/cog or pedals ?
most sealed brackets are fit and forget -

Thanks perks. Do you think the crack looks a little too near the end of the stay for a stent to work?
no should work but I agree with what Gregorio says, repairs like this are always a PIA you never know whats involved until you get stuck in id rather replace the whole section properly.Be brave take the paint off locally and have a proper look, you might be able to just get it brazed up

very shallow seat angle for a track frame ,wonder if its converted from a road frame
