Not sure what the fail is here? That we try to ensure accessibility for disabled people or that the guy didn't walk half a mile to the next cash-point to save himself the trouble of crouching for 15 seconds?
Just lowering the height of the machine is a pretty poor attempt to address the accessibility issues of cash machines...

On a slightly related note, I'd like a tasteful looking ~20" monitor that won't break the bank. It's for desktop use with my 11" MacBook Air (nothing colour sensitive).
I've been considering second hand old Apple Cinema Displays, but these are ~10 years old now and I'd like to know if there's something else I should consider.
Can anyone recommend anything?
Been using one of the old 23" ACDs for a couple of years now, and I have nothing bad to say about it, guess the ports on the back are more than a little outdated, but other than that its been great.

So, android makes the jump to smartwatches - http://developer.android.com/wear/index.html
Looks pretty interesting, definitely think the google now style focus on contextual information is the right way to go in this market.

So finally got round ordering the SDD for my mac mini and have "studied" how to replace it... ifix suggests removing the logic board which would require a removal tool, but I have watched this video that makes the whole thing look a lot simpler... thing is, I have screw drivers of all sorts but don't have the logic baord removal tool nor a spudger. Are these 2 tools really necessary?
Are you going with a two drive setup or just replacing the old one with an SSD? If you're just replacing the old drive then you'll be fine without the removal tool, just takes a bit of angling to get the new drive in the gap and located properly. If you're planning to have two drives in there then you'll definitely need the logic board tool tool, but it usually comes supplied with the cable for the second drive anyway.
If you use a card instead of a spudger, be very careful when removing the ir sensor cable, the socket is pretty fragile (I found this one out the hard way!)

The problem is that Kallax, with its new, thinner panels, may not be strong enough to house vinyl collections (mainly the people concerned are record collectors.) A 5x5 Expedit can safely hold approximately 1500 records with a combined weight of 300kg (and a combined value of a LOT of money.)
Source is in German so maybe they need to try a bit harder to get the word out

This is awesome: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zegoggles.smssync
SMS Backup +
Backs up your SMS, MMS, and call log into labels within Gmail, and can also create calendar entries in your Google Calendar for every call you've made.
Effectively you can't lose that stuff (whereas today it's the only thing you can lose), and it does it in a way that makes it really useful (such as me seeing when I called the lawyer in my calendar and having Google Search in Gmail and Google Calendar find stuff for me).
Just a note for anyone who might be using this - it currently can't restore sms on kitkat, seems to have been an issue for them for a while looking at their github.

Think the thumbs up / down is linked into instant mixes, rate something up for more tracks like it, down for something different. Only got two tracks rated in my library (and I'm not really sure why I rated them in the first place), so it doesn't really bother me!
Once you've selected the files you want on your device you should get a notification saying keeping selected music with a progress bar, seemed to take a fair while when I did it, although it was over a relatively poor internet connection.

Question to others. I tried Google play music when it first came out but a) it didn't recognise meta-data e.g. ratings b} had no smart playlist functionality c) as was cloud delivered was no good if I had no data connection - the storing locally thing seemed useless.
Is it worth trying again?
Ratings are there (only as thumbs up / down) as are play counts, although that being said it doesn't seem to update them after the initial upload.
It has instant mixes which I assume are similar to smart playlists.
Storing locally works, although it takes a good while if you initially want to store a lot of music. One point to note though is that music kept on the phone via play music sync is only visible to the play music app (not sure if other developers have found away around this yet or not)
I quite like using it now as I don't store any music on my phone anymore and just stream seeing as I haven't found a situation where I'd want to use it without an internet connection yet.

Thanks Soul. I think this is more of a mechanical problem though as it makes the noise to spit it out then automatically (before I can even see the disk) reinserts it and reads it.
Hold down the trackpad button whilst booting up - forces it to keep pushing it out instead of reinserting. Should get the disk out at least a few mm.

By design pretty much everything is in that part of the case, so it will be a fairly extensive job, but doesn't look too bad if you're comfortable with that kind of thing.
As far as parts go, ebay is probably your best bet for parts at a reasonable price, you can usually find what you're looking for in reasonable condition stripped from another used machine, might be hard/expensive to find that top case new though.

Project Black Metal Vigo is coming along. Got the chainring bolts today so I could actually attach the chainring and got the chain a couple of days ago.
I'm not happy with the chain because I didn't realise the galvanized coating would make it look like it's painted silver. I'm going to buy a silver KMC Devil when they come back in stock. Also the cranks required a bit of filing on the top edges of the spider arms and the inside of the crank arm to fit the chainring over the top and I don't particularly like it, so I want to swap it for some Sram Red ones as they should fit without issue, but can't find any second hand in 165.
The bartape is getting replaced as soon as the new stuff turns up in the post and there's a Tester Topcap™ to come as well so I'll chop the steerer when that turns up.
Otherwise, it's in full working condition and is surprisingly light, 7.6kg according to my bathroom scales.
Also the spray job is proper shoddy and is scratching off at the slightest touch despite the coats of lacquer.Needs a red seatpost.

I have a plan for the something useful from NFC tags, but either need to find a good (discreet) android coder, or finally learn to do it myself.
If you think your idea has strong grounding and could be something quite unique, then it might be worth looking into NDAs and getting someone who's familiar with android development to sign and then look at / discuss your idea with you. Doesn't really come down to them being discreet if you do it that way.

I have a few, was playing around with them earlier this year. The only real use I could find for them was distinguishing between the two induction chargers I was using (one on the desk and one on the bedside table, both in the same room so couldn't be done by location).
The problem with NFC is its really close to being useful technology, but its not quite there yet. It could have a very bright future for mobile payments, but thats probably only going to happen well if the carriers stop trying to get in the middle of everything. The problem with uses further than that is that currently there aren't really a lot of situations where touching your phone against something else is an obviously more convenient solution, and where it is (things like touching devices together to create a quick bluetooth connection), its held back by the need for widespread adoption to move forward.

This last part is off to me. You're saying that it's ok for the driver pulling out to make an assumption about the approaching car's speed ( that it's within the limit), when really the driver should have assessed the speed of the approaching car and made a decision based on that.
It's the exact same situation as when you're approaching a junction on a bike and a car pulling out makes the assumption that because you're on a bike you're travelling slowly and continues to pull out right when you're on top of them.
Regardless of whether the lambo was speeding, if the driver of the car pulling out saw it coming, then it's still a dumb move by the driver pulling out.
(not actually attributing blame to either driver though, can't really see enough in the video)
