A few times I've called out at people in the road in London, who make absolutely no movement, only to realise they're foreign and this don't respond so readily to LOOK OUT! One time a french kid actually stepped backwards further into the road just as i was going round him, luckily i'd slowed down.
I think i need to practice me shouting. I feel too embarrassed to do it properly... it's more like "erm, AHEM. 'scuse me. sorry."

^ yup - live south. if you want to go out in Shoreditch or wherever, it's not far to cycle from Bermondsey/Surrey Quays (it's legal to cycle in the Rotherhithe tunnel... but best not in heavy traffic - safer/quicker to go via LB), and you'll still be close to the East London line if you can't be bothered to cycle to college or east. Proper south-east will get you cheaper/bigger rooms and hills.

This thread's been quiet for a while? After years of shopping around various shops/labs I've settled on Darkside off Old Street http://www.darksidephoto.co.uk/ I don't know if they're super fantastic quality, but I just like going there and giving them my money. They're not snobby.
For a short while Acrom were nice too, they're a German outfit I think that set up shop in West London somewhere (too far out - I didn't like going) but it didn't last.
ETA: My experience on the others YMMV
Jessops 7 day /massive Kodak regional lab: got progressively worse, mad scratching.
Snappy Snaps: franchise, so prices and quality of service varies, but the London Bridge branch had poor attitude, cut across frames and refused to apologise, then wouldn't reprint a bunch of prints that had red stripes running through them - from varying film types so not a film batch issue like they claimed but probably a pixel out on their precious printer.
Metro: Good quality, not bad price with a student discount, but hate the way they look at you like something they just stepped in. Also, not so much student discount these days i believe.
Acrom: German, lovely service. Closed.
Rapid Eye: ... can't remember. Think i only used them once or twice but if it was anything disastrous i would remember.

the fumes! the fumes!
plus it's all warm and wierd.
cycling on the pavement there is disconcerting - those (electricity?emergency?) boxes sticking out of the wall i always feel like i'm gonna hit my head on one, even though they obviously aren't that close.
