I know, been riding geared here and it's just not giving me the physique i'm after ! (i'm actually quite porky these days). In fact i have a shitty old Raleigh Pioneer in the garage but can't bring myself to ride it. Then there is the fact that i kill bikes so better off keeping it simple. Was even thinking about looking for a pompino (the bike not the act) if I can find a suitabley battered one.

I just got a new job and need something to commute on, complete bike singlespeed or fixed and 56-59cm.
Don't mind conversions as long as they are decent, have a nice track bike but don't want to leave it locked at work because it's not completely secure and I will be spending some of the day out on the road (in a van). Therefore i'm not to bothered about looks, more quality of build and components i.e - not a create or unipack.Budget of about 200 squid so if you have something you want to pass on let me know. Oh and i'm in Bristol now so need to be able to courier it if possible.

Cheers Jersey but the cable tension's all good and the limiting screws are set up right but the chain doesn't sem to want to transfer from the small ring to the big ring. It kind of climbs up on top of the teeth if that makes any sense. That's what makes me wonder if it's the chain rings as I'm not sure if they're 9 speed compatible. The chain does run on the ring okay when it's set in place.
They're not a bio-pace chainset by any chance are they, in which case the chainrings are kind of egg shaped and i think i remember some of the older exage gear was, which i think meant they didn't work with any other groupsets from memory (what's left of it).

I've done some to, ring a local charity and ask them if they need any help. The main thing is to find things to fill the day, such as all the things you have been meaning to do at home, otherwise you will get very bored, very quckly. I stopped working 6 weeks ago, not the same situation as yours but I had done the same job since I was 16 and just began to hate it, and worked so many hours that I barely had time to spend anything so have enough put away to last me through the summer, after that who knows ?

Chin up, there's always work for people in business you just need a really good CV and a positive attitude.
Alternatively you could do what I did at 30 (now) and stop working and spend some savings (supposing you have any). I'm having the time of my life at the moment because I have no long term commitments and can go where I please, even thinking about buggering off to foreign lands at the moment, although i'm wondering if there are any that can provide beer quite like England ! -
price ???
