Thanks so much for all the help guys!
Rik: Any helmets you can lend would be brilliant! I'd be around london from the 13th Sep so anytime I can come collect would be fantastic. I'll be able to get them back to you once the union is up and running with society budgets etc and I will certainly repay you with some sort of alcoholic bevy!
Wickie: I see your point about the boris bikes! Are any bikes ok for bike polo? i have one bashed up mountain bike, one old road bike with drop handle bars...The problem is essentially a lack of cash and bikes. So boris bikes are pretty much are the only choice to start with, despite being terrible..
If you could loan me some mallets for a team , just for the starting week game, that would be truly excellent! I should be able to buy parts for mallets in the first week of october and so have that up and running so I would just need them for one afternoon/evening? I can return them the next day?
I'd love to pop down to get some practice in before term proper so i'll post up when i'm back and try to get down to a game! i only have an old 70s road bike, but i'll bring him down and we'll see how it goes!
Thanks again for all the help!

It is indeed Heythrop University, we have right outside us a hiring station (30 seconds away) so that covers that aspect and we have a tennis court (hopefully) to play on
My main problem at the moment is equipment and experience (minor problems..) If anyone fancied showing/doing a tutorial for the us novices once we are a bit more established that'd be brilliant,
I have to put on some sort of freshers faire demonstration first, so basically, I need to make at least 6 mallets on the cheap and get hold of some helmets (Health and safety via the Union) just so we can hold some sort of rudimentary game to convince my societies officer that this a good idea and thus give me money to play back for the cost ski poles etc in the first place..

Hey Wicksie, I'm looking to start a bike polo soc at uni, roughly startin september 2010, don't suppose you'd be willing, if i popped over to east london, to show me the ropes? I haven't played before properly and have basically no equipment to hand (I lie, I have one child's hockey stick and three helmets and plan to use the hire bikes) so basically any help would be brilliant! If this works out well, there should be a new court opening for play in kensington!
Anyone up for a friendly match? In the next few weeks?
