First build, made with parts from many lovely forumers. I'm trying to get the saddle/bars positioning right:
Apologies for crappy phone picture.Had a Charge saddle on there which was really uncomfortable, so have swapped for trusty old Brooks B17. The handlebars are a stretch to reach, so on the advice of the lovely folks at Brixton Cycles I might try flipping the bars over backwards. I was also thinking of trying belleville or porteur bars. Or maybe I should just put the saddle a bit higher?

The lovely ladies of the forum persuaded me that I should give this a go. Hope I am not too horrifyingly slow!

Shout out for the nice man from Practical Cycles on eBay (http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/practicalcyclesuk/). I ordered the wrong size brake lever (cause I'm an idiot), and they were happy to refund or exchange it. Most importantly, they replied to every message I sent them within a couple of hours. Helpful people.
Also, +1 to Brick Lane Bikes, the guys in there really put the effort in to find the perfect seat post for my oddly sized frame. And they bodged me up a seat post nut/bolt pin for free because the proper pins were too long. Friendly shop, full of beautiful things - I feel compelled to return there and buy everything.

Reviving thread to ask:
I've got a frame on which the paint is a good colour, and seems nicely done, but is too thin. I think the paint will chip far too easily. Short of getting it powercoated properly, I was going to touch it up a bit myself.
Should I try to find spray paint in the same colour that it is now, or could I user clearcoat on it? Then I could do 1 or 2 coats on top. Will this damage the paint that's currently on there?

Good to know everyone else is slowed by traffic too I guess, thanks guys.
So here's another question: I'm trying to choose a gear ratio for a new build, and I need to know what my current gear ratio is. But I've got hub gears, so it appears to have a single cog on the back but somehow magically produces 3 different gears. Which is the "true" gear, top, middle or bottom?
Edited to add: Sumo, that's fucking awesome.

Hi team,
I'm after a cheap and cheerful wheelset for my First! Awesome! Fixie! Build!
I'm looking for a set of 700c wheels, flip flop fixed/free hub, which can be spaced to 130mm. Preferably silver rims, but not essential. £100 - £150 or so.
I'm a bit loath to buy new wheels as the ones in this price range all seem to be on Quando hubs, which I've been warned against.
Any ideas?
Cheers!
That is a good idea, I love the Birkbeck bar!
