Lots more of this sort of shite here:
http://road.cc/content/news/23149-hope-unveil-integrated-cassette-and-freehubI actually quite like that - but then I do have terrible taste.
It's just what you need for one of these charmers though. ;)

**BLAH! techno fail.

I am late to the party on this, but dude, that's sweet. I am usually a bit nonplussed by flat handlebars but those looks awesome. Love it! :D

Fixie - are those rims turquoise, or white reflecting the ground? I love that celeste green colour.
My current project is building a single speed from a lovely 1950s Hobbs of Barbican frame. The frame came with a double crankset when I bought it, and I'm thinking about using it anyway to save money. Has anyone tried setting up a SS on a double crankset? Any problems?

Blooming: bikes with flat tubes are more stable, as the diamond shape is stronger - most riders I know recommend this shape a lot. However, if you want a step-through (so you can get on & off easier, and so you can wear a skirt), then you could try a mixte rather than a loop frame. There are some really neat 1970s/80s mixte frames around. I've got a mixte which is lovely for easy, relaxed riding, but I've just got a diamond frame for doing longer distances.
Jenny: Haha, so true! Easier, and much less painful on your feet. :D

+1 for Brixton Cycles. Always helpful, and my female housemate & my mum have both found it good too.
Bobbins in Angel is lovely for retro & dutch-style bikes and bits. But they don't do any fixing or maintenance in there, so it's very much a shop rather than a worrkshop. Very cute and friendly staff though.
I've had good experiences in Recycle in Elephant & Castle and Edwards in Camberwell when I've popped into them. The guy in Edwards kindly offered to tighten my headset up for me for free when I went in to buy some tools.

Talking of saddles - have the ladies here found saddles with cut-outs to be comfortable? Something like this.
My mum swears by her cut-out saddle, but I'm rather attached (...as it were) to my Brooks.

Leigh - you ladies look so stylish - I am impressed by your skills at riding in heels! Which bike is yours?
I've put in a bid for this steel beauty: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280551784331#ht_500wt_1154 I love the nervex lugs on it. :D

Hi, I'm de-lurking to introduce myself. :) I'm riding a Dutch-style bike at the moment but I want to build a SS road bike too. I'd like to get a vintage frame (70s or 80s maybe), preferably in steel.
What are the views on steel frames for road bikes? My male friends all say I should go with aluminium, but I find it very clattery to ride on.
Also, whoever was looking for a very small frame, there's a 19" steel Kona frame up on ebay at the moment: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Steel-Kona-Cindercone-single-speed-singlespeed-19-/260656656304?pt=UK_sportsleisure_cycling_bikeparts_SR#ht_722wt_1137.
Sweet, thanks guys. Good news.
As for props - I will just have to overcome this limitation with my MAD SKILLZ.
