I got this here a few years back and it has been the basis of my commuter since. Is decent enough; Columbus drop out, unknown tubing. Finally bitten the dust and along with some other damage there is now a crack in the top tube. This is propagating out of the front cable routing hole on the top tube. The crack goes up and down. Fork is fine, but frame looks like a write-off. Thought i would offer it here just in case someone can make use of the fork, or all of it. If you want to make a forum donation then excellent.
Good
- A chrome fork
- It has a BB
- It has a headset
- Noble Rot sticker
Bad
- Crack in top tube
- Seat tube is also slightly crushed where i once over torqued a kid seat clamp
- Kid seat clamp also messed up the Noble Rot sticker.
Collection E5
- A chrome fork

Attaching a Thule child seat to my commuter/beater this afternoon and I appear to have crushed the seat tube.
Followed the guidance of 8nm, and from the weight of the frame had assumed it was made from some not very fancy steel. However it has definitely been crimped by the clamp.
To those that know more than me about steel frames: any thoughts on how much of a problem this is would be really helpful. Obviously want this to be safe if i am going transport our son on it.
Many thanks in advance.

Those with Thule ST mounted seats: what tension did you tighten the clamp to?
I have dutifully followed the guide and tightened mine to 8nm and I seem to a crimped the ST. It is an old steel frame that from the weight I had assumed was made from scaffolding tubes, but the clamp has definitely misshapen the tubing.
Aargh.

Hello,
Anyone any thoughts on this? Have just brought a child seat (one of the Thule seatpost mounted ones). Now need a helmet. He is currently 15 months. Have read a bunch of reviews online, but thought i would see if anyone has any useful experiences.
(Couldn’t find an existing thread elsewhere, but please point out if I am being a moron)

@bg2 did the cassette go? Still interested if not.

I will very happily take the cassette if @PhilDAS doesn’t end up wanting it.
(Based in E9, and work centrally).
Thanks

Hi,
Looking for an ITA or BSA set with the inner water seals in them (Chorus or Record) so i can take them out and fit them in a set of the BLACK Super Record cups, and then run them with a set of Record cranks (without ceramic bearings) free of paranoia, whilst feeling comfortable with the ascetic of my bike.
Just need the seals. You can’t buy them separately it seems. Record BB cups come in a bad grey.
Many thanks,
Adam
