Hi
I recently bought some new pedals as my current ones were no good with toe clips unless I got one of those horrible chunky strap things as I have just gone from SS to fixed. When I took off my old pedals they came off nice and easy but when I put the new ones on they will not go on straight so the thread obviously needs re tapping. Question is how should I go about doing this or would it be easier to get a bike shop to do it?
Cheers

Polished fork, another brake, decals back on (You could get some made up quite easily) and some classic pedal/ cage. strap combo and it'd be quite nice... Oh and for the love of bottoms the world over please put that saddle in the bin, it's magnificently ugly!
Please don't remind me about the saddle, it is hideous! It was free and its just so its rideable, that definitely will not be staying.

good first effort though, are they MA2's?
Thankyou, I'm not sure what MA2's are sorry :s I'm completely new to singlespeeds. This is literally my first bike since I was like 10 i think.
It must not be set up right. no one has that short of legs and that long arms.
He said its set up as a SS so foot retention is not as crucial as fixed but the solo back brake is. if you were going to have only one brake put it on the front not the back.chrome the fork and get some decals.
Without sounding too much like a complete retard could you help me out with getting it setup right?
cheers

I'm not going to be a hater and pass comment on how your frame is obviously too small for you or not set up correctly AT ALL, nor will I mention the fact that you have no foot retention on your bike which, regardless of argumentative types attempting to say otherwise, is a fail...
I will however draw your attention to the world champ stripe decals that were originally on your frame and implore you to restore them to the frame, they look awesome!! Also the fork would look a lot nicer chromed or painted to match the frame...
I'm going to go with not set up correctly, I should have stated I am a total newbie when it comes to this style of bike (bikes in general). I will look into it, cheers for highlighting it. I know the pedals wont be to everyones taste, as for the brake no comment. I would have liked to put the stripes back on but they are pretty messed up and unless i could get some new ones from somewhere. I am still undecided about the bars, I wanted either a camel colour (like they are) or polished. I will probably change them shortly but for now they can stay.

I have been wanting to build myself a single speed for a while and finally got hold of a nice frame and forks last week.
It looked like this last week

And as of last night it now looks like this

I'm quite happy with the outcome of it, its not 100% perfect as the rear wheel needs re-dishing so that the chain will be straight and it wont be so noisey when its ridden.

Hi I'm in the progress of building up a single seed and have hot a bit of a snag. Basically my chain isn't straight, it is angled slightly between the freewheel and the crank. When the bike shop fitted the chain they said for about half an hours work (£15) they could swap the hub round and re-dish the wheel and that would move the freewheel over by about 1cm, they recon that this would sort out the chain making straighter.
Now I could either do this and it would be ok for me for now, I'm new to single speeds/fixed gears. I do plan on going single speed eventually but probably not until after christmas, so one of the other options I have is to buy a new single speed wheel or a flip flop wheel. I would rather not do this as I have literally just bought wheels for my bike. I was wondering, is there spacers you can buy to move the freewheel out a bit thus straightening the chain?
you can see here how it isn't inline
Cheers

Hi everyone, i'm Chris and I live in a sleepy little village called West Chiltington. I've just bought a frame and forks off a friend, not sure what make it is :s. I plan on spraying it up and making a fixie. I'm looking for a cheap fast alternative to go alongside my car, another project I have on the go.

I'm slapping myself on my forehead as I think I may have done this :S
I'm new to the whole bike building shenanigans so its more than likely! Any chance if I swap the pedals around and re-tap them that way it would work? or are the thread likely to be too far gone?
