Mad idea but if you're running a threadless headset you could use a longer bolt through the top cap screwing into a tall plug at the bottom. The stem would retain the headset load whilst the rest was being faffed with and a two inch tall bottom plug would probably spread the load out reasonably over the crown and the lower steerer tube.
Can draw you a picture if you like.

I can help with the technical aspects of setting up a site where multiple approved users can post front-page "news" items. I've used Drupal to create such sites in the past for uni societies.
Using drupal rather than WP means we can have the news bits, forum and calendar stuff integrated without messing with multiple chunks of software.
Hopefully someone mire creative than me can mock up a visual identity for it all...

Pins + Waffle sole = plenty of grips.
You can bunny hop a bmx without "retention". Unless you ride with locked-up ankles you get plenty of grip around enough of the stroke to slow down.
I rode this year's Clunker on my polo bike with DMR V8s, a sub 40" fixed gear and one front canti brake. I didn't fall off and I finished somewhere between 10th and 15th.
Stop arsing around and start talking about lockrings, ffs.

I have a certificate which says I'm only a second class geek.
I'm not a fan of phpBB as forum software but it's usually available "off the shelf" with web hosting packages. I prefer Drupal.
