I'm about to start commuting fixed, having been using my road bike for the 16 mile (Central London) round trip for the last 18 months or so. The times of day I commute tend to be less busy (6-6:30am, variable but not early in the evening), so I don't have half the issues with traffic / nodders that a lot of people seem to.
Any advice from other forumengers would be appreciated though, particularly on handling traffic, or how others have found it necessary to adjust riding style when moving to fixed.

The Joy of Essex- Saturday 16th of October
A sore ankle and the Cycle Show means I am running this ride a few weeks later than planned; see earlier threads.
**The Joy of Essex,
**
This is a trip to the Essex Country side and back, leaving Walthamstow @ 9.00 am and then heading out through Epping Forest. Once past Epping and N Weald we hit the empty lanes of the N Essex country side so you can discover the joys of cycling in Essex. It’s not all furry dice, white socks and white stilettos. The route will be fixed /single speed friendly , done at a steady pace with no one getting dropped or lost,
Its especially suitable for some one wanting to start to do longer rides and who’d like to find out how to ride out from East London to the Essex Lanes. There will be a stop at the famous High Beach tea hut and lunch at Ashlyn’s farm on the return leg. The turn around point will probably be Matching Green. We should be back by 2 pm. The early start is necessary so we can clear the morning rush in Woodford.

Was this lock.

I'd bought it as a stop gap until getting a "proper" lock I already had back off a friend's bike.

Bought this blue Bottecchia on the forum last week, collected over the weekend, left it locked up outside on Monday night. Gone. Very annoying.

Will get up to Brick Lane this Sunday, but if anyone sees it in the mean time, let me know.

Actually I just got a jersey from the guys that make the Tim Taylor. They have some awesome ones:
http://www.thecyclejersey.com/shop/
Tunnocks Teacakes possibly my favourite.
I was having the banter with the guy and he said they were looking for some new designs. He also said the most difficult bit was getting a design the brand owner was happy with.
They're keen though, and I'm sure would listen to the voice of the masses.
My votes were for Adnams and Black Sheep, but frankly I'm happy with most things beer-related.

Saw some of you speeding past about 25 miles in, after I'd been somewhat inconvenienced by a cracked steerer tube. Closer inspection on the train home revealed a big grimace between the topmost spacer and stem clamp. What a shitter on my first go at one of these things.
Would be keen to join for a Sunday ride at some point, and have to find another one of these things to break that duck.
6 pt, I suspect this also means Thursday Regents Park laps are out for me.

I'm in too. Definitely up for the early train (British Rail that is, rather than trying to keep up with the quicks. Will be getting on 7:31 at Vauxhall (which I guess is 7:27 at Waterloo). Met a couple of you Thursday - damo, tom, jamie, Friday. Will be on the black and red Ribble. Green Whisky Society jersey.

Anyone know what it's like in terms of leaving gear at the sports centre?

A couple on matching fixed blue Condors, one pannier each, heading down Narrow Street. Cute.
Plus a guy on the crossroads of Southwark Bridge Road and Southwark Street, orange frame and tyres, bullhorns, fair beard and blue jacket. Smelt like forum.
