It was a bit annoying Phil Liggett (I know, no-one listens to Phil and Paul on here) going on about there being no French riders in the front group when JCP, Bardet and Barguil were all there. Unfortunately they were all the wrong side of the split on stage 2 so aren't looking too hot overall.
It was pretty clear everyone wanted Martin to get yellow: he got more than one decent pull from a press moto! Still, great result

Got me wondering if it'd have been possible to get a squad of 9 riders whose surnames could be first names, turns out it probably is, although may not fit Velogames team structure:
Dennis
Martin T
Martin D
Thomas
Kristoff ?
Gerard
Roy
Simon
Didier
Frank
Rolland
GeneMatthews, Martens & Rogers could almost be considered too...
/csb
Ha! Roy is great. Not sure about Rolland mind. Shame Phil Gil isn't riding.

Nah it was reverted to Sosenka's record, so some of the Boardman/Obree records stood, others didn't.
Someone will correct me but I think they decided that it had to have been set on a pursuit legal bike at the time the record was set.
Nope, nothing as logical. Boardman's 56 was on a perfectly legal pursuit bike. They just said "whatever we've done before, here is our current recognised record (Sosenka's), and we're letting you beat it on any legal track bike". So whether Boardman's/Obree's records "stand" or not is a bit of a moot point; Boardman's 2000 "Merckx" record "stands" cos it has never been annulled, but all his others were obliterated when they made the "Merckx" rule-change. No records got 're-instated' with the latest change, so it's not a case of some records standing and others not; all of Boardman's/Obree's records (except 2000) were further than Sosenka in any case.
What I've not heard anyone talking about, though, is whether Rominger's bike would be pursuit-legal these days and if not why not; seems to have same-sized wheels and standard bars from what I've seen. -- Not that this has any bearing on the record, but if we say Boardman's record is unobtainable due to aerodynamics, what about Rominger? i.e. How much dope is required to ride a standard pursuit bike that fast for an hour?

This is really good. A lot of his articles seem really technical and a bit scary (is my pelvis correctly aligned? Is my neurological feedback causing me to ride my bike wrong?) but the tips on setting your own saddle height seem spot on, and in fact similar to the method I've developed over a few years: basically (this works particularly well in winter), either go on a long ride or a hard ride and see which part of your leg hurts. Front of knee=saddle too low; back of knee or ankle=saddle too high. The thing about "velocity of extension of the rear of the knee" is pretty interesting.

After the intermediate sprint he, Greipel, Degekolb Cav and Coquard were about 200m off the front of the peloton, he did the breakaway "come on guys, do some work" hand gesture. Comic gold.
