took my car in to the VW specialist a month or so ago to have the timing chain tensioner swapped out. it had a minor oil leak at that time (noted on the prev MOT and picked up by the mechanic at the specialist). they said they thought it was coming from the upper timing chain cover and claimed to have fixed it after putting new tensioner in.
noticed yesterday (don’t use my car much) that there is some oil spotting where it was parked. I know you can have oil leaks if the lower timing chain cover is not swapped out when doing the tensioner on the MK6 golf. they had planned to do that when doing the tensioner but the part was on back order so skipped it. but they did say they managed to get the old cover off and back on again with no issues.
what are the chances they’ll fix it gratis if it does turn out to be the lower cover causing the issue. expecting low-to-nil but I’ll phone them on monday

plus OK they’ve been a bit pedestrian in sections of both matches so far but they’ve got 4 points, are in prime position to qualify, and are muddling through without yet hitting their top gear. not sure why everyone’s going into meltdown. as a scotland fan, I’d swap positions in a heartbeat. our only good defender is now crocked, our other three defenders are total haddies, our midfield seem to have forgotten how to midfield and the less said about our forward line the better…

foden, bellingham and rice are three of the best midfielders in the world. england probably have the best squad in the tournament. OK it’s tournament football so it’s tough to win and anything can happen but they should probably be considered favourites / joint-favourites with france and germany. southgate saying they’ve struggled in midfield for years is frankly embarrassing

started at 81.9kg on 3 june - now down to 79.5kg due to a combination of limiting cals to 1610 a day (actually not too bad with some diet tweaks) and increasing level of activity (e.g. 8-10k steps per day or one strength workout / 5k run). trying to get as low into the 70s as possible before switching to maintenance. at 182cm I’m now in the healthy BMI range
always been happy with my rapha repros from alasdair express
