These lads do a frame incl blasting for 40-50 quid I've just found out. yowsah. Handy resource for Belfast folks. especially when the dublin lads are getting hit with 120 euro! Universal industrial spraying.

just saw handlebar tape, good job. Those wee clips would really finish it off.
Just getting to finishing my first fixed gear build myself and already thinking about the next bike. I'm thinking about a weekend geared road bike though and the fixed gear for commuting. something like an old rourke frame and a load of chorus on it.

For the record im not trying to rip anyone one off here.
The guy restores mk1 golfs, scooters, chooper bikes as well as road bikes.
He got the bike for cheap as part of a deal on vw bits and is willing to pass on at cost as he has enough project wise to be getting on with and heard I was building a bike.
So I'm not ripping anyone off thanks.

No not drunk, I'm just hearing details of this via my mate who is into scooters and dont think twigged that it might be worth anything.
I think he said the model sounded like a french name but thought frame was italian.
gonna try and find out more tomorrow.
guy wanted virtually nothing for a complete bike!

Fella I live with restores old scooters. He was round speaking to another scooter collector tonight and saw a bike the fella had in the back of his car.
70-80's race bike. Guy I live with couldnt remember the full name said something like a "jacques le monde" something like that and that, the fella recognised the series from the teams blue/pink/orange paint scheme.
I might be able to pick this up for next to nothing. I'd like a geared bike to go alongside my fixed gear. only surface rust :)
anyone recognise it? or any suggestions?

hopefully my front wheel/tyre/tube will be here in the morning. Cant wait, seems a big step forward in the build, then down to last few bits
toeclips/straps
stembolt.
chain.
handlebar tape
front brakeMega skint at the minute, so I've just been buying bits as I sold stuff on ebay lol
build funded thus far by
4 x cans of guinness (which I swapped for a 26" back wheel, that I then swapped for the rusty old frame/cranks/headset/saddle)
1 x mountain bike (sold for £40)
2 x old adidas trainers (sold on ebay £50) -

I have a raleigh frame and 27" wheels, Im replacing the centre pull brakes that were orginally on the bike with a side pull front brake (its fixed gear now at back).
anyone know what size front brake I should be buying? I've no idea how you go about measuring them up and im sure this is simples to someone.

oddly enough ed they are harder to find here, all those ebay "pick up only" and gumtree finds are pretty slim on the ground, Literally on gumtree in six months there has been one rourke frame and a david lloyd bike for £250.
New road bikes go for good money but I have a sinking feeling too that a lot of people put no value on older frames so it just goes to the dump :(
Hopefully have struck lucky tho, wonder what he has rubs hands
would this chain fit? its a kmc 415.
*The extreme fatter size makes this chain virtually indestructible, resisting impacts and grinds. The 415H is noted for being a little rougher and noisier compared to lighter duty chains. It may require additional axle spacing for proper clearance on some frames. This fat, extreme chain is ideal for freestyle, jumping, and street riding.
Link Size: 1/2" x 3/16" *
It'll be running between a standard 1970's raleigh cottered crank and a '27 x 1 1/4 rear wheel, Rigida chrolux chrome rim on a prima miche track hub, 16t sprocket, lockring'
I thought a heavier chain might be better for fixed gear rather than, a lighter one for a geared bike that isnt used for braking.
I bought the sprocket off here so ive no idea how big it is lol.
