I'm about 6-1... so a 59cm I guess.

I use a front brake, so it's got to have a drilled fork (I don't want to go through the hassle/risk of doing this myself).

Also, the brother and s2 are both clearly designed to be usable on the road. I think that a true track frame would be too harsh a ride.

At £600 I'd probably worry about it getting trashed too much.

I'm leaning towards the brother steel frame ATM. Very similar deal, but available now, and I prefer the decals etc.

So I've had my 56cm raleigh conversion for a while now. It's too small, heavy and has pretty nasty geometry.

I've spent far more on components (1" threaded headset, JIS bb, JIS cranks, 700c wheelset, etc) than I have on the frame. Ideally I'd like to just chuck them onto a new one.

I've got around £450 to spend, and would prefer something new.

Any thoughts?

It's a minor thing, just not a fan of decals in general.

To those who think the S1 is a good deal, but would not buy it: What is a better deal?

Personally I'm not all too fussed about who made it, it's the final product that matters. Those "Tokyo Fixed" decals do bug me though :/

When a nice new headset is over £30, and I already have a nice one, and I'm looking to spend <£600, that's equivalent to roughly a 10% saving.

Shells come in different lengths too, giving exposed threads on some frames but not others. I'm unsure if this is part of JIS however.

Still, I already have a nice headset, nice JIS bb, nice JIS cranks etc, etc. All this stuff adds up eventually.

Many of these franken bikes are nicer than my nice bike :(

Is the decal removable btw?

JIS is simply a standard for various dimensions of the bike. e.g. crown race inner radius.

All my parts are JIS, so on a frame with JIS sizing, everything should 'just fit' nicely.

Yeah I think the S1 is overpriced, may as well go the custom built Bob Jackson route at that price... or even ditch steel altogether.

I think I'll take a look at the S2 next time I'm down that way.

For those on a budget, this is a great bike. the chainstays can fit a large cog in a 107mm chainline, and the rear dropouts are a good fit for track wheels.

Looking for a reasonable 1" threaded fork (~150mm tube), with a brake drop of around 30-45mm with a 700c. A recessed allen mount brake fixing would be perfect, although I can always bore-out a nutted one.

Not at all fused about colour.

What is the brake-drop on the chrome forks with a 700c?
