So, dry brining, aka rubbing in salt.
Considering this for my turkey this year. Looks like it is really a matter of rubbing salt all over and leaving it overnight in the fridge. How do people deal with having an uncovered lump of poultry in the fridge from a contamination point of view? Are sea salt flakes the equivalent of kosher salt over here? Is it really the case that it doesn't taste salty even though you don't wash the salt off?
Also, I'm considering spatchcocking the turkey so could be the impetus to finally get some poultry shears, any recommendations that aren't hugely expensive?

LFGSS and Microcosm shutting down 16th March 2025 (the day before the Online Safety Act is enforced)
Companies can be fined up to £18 million or 10 percent of their qualifying worldwide revenue, whichever is greater.
I imagine the first part could be avoided be setting up as a limited liability company.
Criminal action can be taken against senior managers who fail to ensure companies follow information requests from Ofcom. Ofcom will also be able to hold companies and senior managers (where they are at fault) criminally liable if the provider fails to comply with Ofcom’s enforcement notices in relation to specific child safety duties or to child sexual abuse and exploitation on their service.
This is obviously more concerning although it isn't really clear what the responsibility is and it seems OFCOM haven't really decided yet either. I guess more will become clear in the new year when they launch the guidance tools for small companies but I can see why velocio may not want to bear this risk.

I like these Hafele ones. Take a bit of accurate measuring but easy enough to do with a drill and gives you the flexibility to move them (although I never have moved any of the various ones I've done with them).

Lots of options on the Hafele site

How does a fan heater compare to those oil filled radiators? It's for using to take the edge off the cold when I'm working from home, so just me in one room with the door shut.
I got a little 700w radiator. Brought my office room up by about 3 degrees in an hour of full on, assume it will start to click on and off after that. In the bigger living room it has brought it up by about 1 degree in an hour (but the thermostat is the other side of the room) but assume that once the proper heating clicks on that should help it get up to temperature.
700W at 24p/kwh is 17p per hour which seems pretty reasonable.
It doesn't give the quick blast of heat that a fan heater does but they seemed much less efficient.

Ah, I was thinking he meant using the BTC to place the bet.
This is just spread betting. It's legally tax free but you can't offset losses so you need to be confident of something increasing beyond the offered spread.
There are plenty that offer this for shares, markets, etc but I don't know of any that do it for crypto.

You need a switch. Plug your cable into it and then other cables to wherever you need them.
This kind of thing

Obviously build one out of a Raspberry Pi, a replacement laptop screen and a photo frame. Then simply remotely tunnel to the Pi to add whichever pictures you want.
Which reminds me, I should really get that Raspberry Pi, replacement laptop screen and photo frame out of the box in the loft where they have been for the past five years ...

When I first joined them I was meant to get some £100 referral bonus. Never happened despite multiple calls/emails with them where they assured me it was sorted.
Now my contract has expired and the price increased. Called them and agreed a new contract at a reduced price (nothing complicated, just the price on the website).
Again, multiple calls and emails where they have no idea what is going on, assure me it's sorted and then next call starts from square one again.
I've found the metal ones are ok as the case acts as a heat sink but that's probably only any good if there's clear air around it.
Saying that, most of mine are actually ex small office ones which are probably a bit more robust.
