I've used Virgin a few times for heading up North (normally the Preston, Oxenholme line). Have had to phone up to get a bike reservation which is a bit of a faff but all I've done then is scribble that number on a piece of paper. No-one on the phone has told me I need any kind of separate ticket and, fortunately it seems, the staff at Euston have only asked if I have a reservation and never bothered checking.

A comedy one on my way home last night. I sometime ride through Finsbury Park on the way home.
As I was pulling off the road to go up the dropped kerb into the park I noticed that the fair was on. I pondered what route I'd have to take through the park to get round it and then looked down to discover that the dropped kerb had been moved and a signpost erected and I was very slowly riding into a high kerb at a very shallow angle with a signpost behind it. A slight bit of confusion with my clip-ins resulted in me slowly toppling to the ground whilst laughing loudly at my own fuck-wittedness.

Wonder if anyone can help me. I'm looking for a lock like this http://www.wiggle.co.uk/abus-combiflex-202-90cm-cable-bike-lock/
but with an alarm if the cable is cut. I'm planning to mainly use it for locking a Brompton to the luggage rack on a train so I don't want the alarm to go off if it's just jostled, only if the "circuit" is broken.Any suggestions gratefully received.

RJ07 UUZ. Minicab unsurprisingly, silver people-carrier.
Going along Seven Sisters road past the park towards Manor House last night there were some building works so cones filtering all the traffic into the bus lane.
I was happily in primary position in the bus lane, didn't want anyone trying to squeeze past me as it narrowed, when a minicab caught up to me from behind just as the cones were filtering the traffic over. He started drifting over into the space where I was, forcing me closer to the kerb. Ended up with me banging on the passenger window in disbelief.
Not sure what happened then, whether he clipped me or, because I was squeezed into the kerb I clipped the kerb or hit one of the massive potholes on that stretch but next thing I was on the floor in front of the cab in the middle of the road.
Got up and shouted something along the lines of What the fucking hell do you think you're doing. His response "How much road do you think you need"
After checking all was OK with me and bike, other than bleeding elbow and leg, I moved my bike onto the pavement as traffic was stacking up. Turned round and the fucker had disappeared into the distance, didn't even bother asking if I was OK.
Reported it on the roadsafe website but they've come back and said as there was a collision I need to go into a station and report it. Now need to track down my nearest station and find some free time.

I'm not sure if this is the correct thread to post on, I thought there was a general locks thread but can't find it.
I'm looking for a lock similar to the Evo Mini, similar size, strength and weight (i.e. not a Fahg) but with locking on both sides rather than just the one like the Mini. I'm sure I've seen something like this mentioned on here somewhere but can't remember where.
Cheers for any help.

I was out cycling in the Lakes last year and doing a fair clip down a hill at about 30 or so I imagine. Rounded a bend/dip to see a land rover coming and pretty much blocking the whole country lane. Slammed on the brakes (disks) and instantly locked up so had to ease them off again and somehow careered from one side of the road to the other before finding the foot or so of gap between the land rover and the dry stone wall and flew through it. No idea how I managed that.

I have the SQR Glentress which is one of the modern bags but a bit smaller (7l or so I think). No issue with it swinging about, even when packed with heavy stuff and the SQR block holds it back a little from the saddle.
Make sure you have enough space between the saddle and the back wheel/mudguard is one thing. I find that even though there's plenty of space when the bag's attached the motion of clipping it on to the SQR needs a little extra space (I've a fairly small frame though).
The SQR block and the bracket on the bag are pretty solid so I imagine it could take a fair load, I wouldn't recommend it for a carbon seatpost though.
They're very helpful if you email or give them a call I've found. They also repaired my bag for free after I stood on a buckle and broke it.
