Why do you suspect a bent frame anyway? Did you crash it? Although a bent frame wouldnt explain the variation in chain tension.

Singlespeed? Only thing I can think is your wheel nuts are slipping and the wheel is tracking within the dropouts.

The steel looks more retro cool, more so than the 2010 model.

Altho personally I love the understated look of my 2010 alu langster...take the stickers off and its almost completely unrecognisable to theives.

This does bring up a serious consideration for the inner city cyclist though. Do you arm yourself with more than a clumsy D-Lock that you might be able to lay your hand on. A baseball bat may be a bit big for your everyday cycle bag but something with a bit of reach and some weight could do.

Much as we all hate cateye, there's an EL530 on gumtree this week for £20 which is quite a bargain. I've had one for nearly two years now.

Its the brightest 'get me seen' front light in its price range on the market.
Only draw back is the battery life: 10 hours full bright then 40 hours reserve light. The CATEYE mount brackets arent good, the trick is not to overtighten the plastic thumb screw.

The marketing people want to use fixed/ss cycling as an aid for brand advertising because it is currently considered cool and trendy. The mass production of purpose built fixed gear bikes by companies such as SE and Charge has spawned a new generation of asthetically pleasing bikes ready made for the advert hipster model. Something else will come along in a few years and the bikes will be dropped from the ads.

Good luck with the SS build. I too ride a Langster, 2010 version and it has been a blast all year for me (riding fixed). You've also got me thinking I would love to build me a fixie from scratch so I'm going to make that happen in 2011.
